I have a really bad cold and I've been taking cold tablets for the last few days. On the box it says you should stop taking them after a few days, but I have exams in a week and need to get rid of these symptoms. Would it be safe if I took them for another week?

In part they say that to cover their butts

it is not the best thing to take the decongestants for a long period of time they can end up giving you long term sinus symptoms

But if you are not getting better in a weeks time or you have a high fever you may have a bacteria infection and you may need antibiotics.

That is why they put the warning on the box so if your Dr says to keep taking them and it is not viral it is not their fault (the medication companies).

But for some viral infections out there it does take quit awhile to get over them.

No harm, if you can stop taking the tablets after a few days -- just a few days. drink a lot of water, fluids, when you take the tablets> All anti histamines (like cold tablets) should be taken only on as --required basis, not as tonics!

those aren't working. I wouldn't continue taking them.
