Critics of Christianity, judge Christianity by the Crusades.
Critics of Islam, judge Islam by 9/11.
Have you forgotten about the Charities, the Missionaries, the Red Cross and the Red Crescent?
There are a lots of Christians and Muslims out there, who have nothing to do with the attrocities attributed to their religions.
People will continue to misinterpret and bend facts , wether it's law, religion or whatever. That doesn't make religion BAD. That doesn't make a 9/11 hijacker a Muslim, or a Crusader a Christian.
I am not criticizing those who think Religion is fictional, that's their opinion. But those who say Religion is bad, are being very subjective and irrational.

Religion is not bad, but the religious can be.
Religion is fictional, but the religious are real.

A big part of it is becuase the high profile speakers for chrsitinity in this country are dildoes like Robertson and Fallwell.
It isn't enough to not join them in their messages of hate, since you associated with them. You must denounce them.
A lot of it is politics, if chrisitans would act in a "christian" manner, feed the hungry, clothe the poor, etc, rather than scream about gays and tellitubbies, ( like christ did a lot of that), people wouldn't automatically roll their eyes and think of hypocrites.
Religion has done some good things in the world but for every person out there acting "chrisitan" there are a thousand others screaming for someones blood.

If I observed that:
1 A particular religion was logically sound
2 The followers of that religion were obviously better people for it
3 This religion could be proven to be true
...then I would be very impressed. Or am I being too scientific in my approach?

Because they're skeptics who don't want to accept the truth.
It's easy to say that something's bad because of the actions of a few people. Because they want to put down religion, they'd probably do almost anything to prove themselves right, including not getting all the info about something.
People assume bad things about Witnesses all the time; some of them are half-truths, some of them are just plain untruths. Rather than get discouraged by it, I choose to ignore it and do my best to avoid such talk. They can choose to believe whatever they want to, because Jehovah gave us all free will, just like I chose to be a Witness. I don't let it get me down because ultimately I KNOW THE TRUTH and am living my life according to it.

So would a modern day Nazi be accepted. Im sure there some around now who didnt kill any jewish people, might even think it was wrong. That preson still gonna be hwld accoutable cause to me, you are just passing the buck and avoiding the resposibilty of your faiths history. Religion isnt bad just some of the religous, just like alcohol, not all drinkers are alcoholics but all drinkers share the same resposibilty for their actions. Pervious drinkers have crashed cars and killed people, so laws are paassed that apply to all people dinkers or not. we ar all resposible for our actions and are judjed ny peoples before us mistakes

I do look at religion by the teachings as well as the individuals.
For example,Adolph Hitler was a christian and a mass murderer. If however he truly repented before he died and accepted Jesus as his saviour, which by his speeches he did, then his reward is a place in heaven according to christian teachings.
You tell me how that can be right

Because they want to show the world just how special their religion is.....
It doesn't really matter, truthfuly...... God knows the hearts of individual man..... Religion is a means of keeping others under a certain code of thinking...... it diversifies and divides....... We are supposed to love our neighbors and treat people like we want to be treated..... Religion really doesn't matter........
But, that's man's way of holding high his head above another........ and beat on his chest proclaiming his knowledge is greater than the world because God gave him his eduation......

People should be judged for who they are and how they behave...not by their religion. In otherwords, just the opposite of what you said. Religions are made by man....and men can do whatever they choose in the name of their religion.

I do not believe critics usually go even that far. There is a tendency to make a judgement and then only pick the incidences that they can best use to promote it.

It is a normal reaction from skeptics, and God is very sensitive about that. We identify ourselves with God and we disobey what God wants. People see that and in the process we shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces, by giving them a wrong impression that our God is lunatic.
