Someone asked a question and everyone answered one way. I answered a different way quoting a direct bible verse and that was it. No nasty comments just the bible verse and a simple no. I even included the website I got it from to prove I wasn't making it up. And I got all thumbs down. Was everyone ignoring that verse because it didn't support their answer? What's the deal? I'm just wondering. I'm not angry or anything, thumbs down don't bother me XD but I can't figure it out.

You need to understand that most of the time people get angry it is because they are afraid. Think about that. They fear something. Finding out what they fear may not be easy, but in this forum it may likely be their fear is they can't answer your question or that the answer may reveal to them that what they thought to be true is not, and that, you have to imagine is a little scary. If they are wrong about one issue, how many other issues might they be wrong about and how much time and effort would it take to sort it all out again?

It is my observation that most people do not want to have their beliefs challenged, especially if they haven't challenged them on their own before.

I got involved here when a friend who is an avid participant asked for help with a Biblical question.

At first, I assumed every question was questing for an honest answer or opinion. Boy, was I wrong!

What I see a great deal of is sarcasm, condescension, as well rude and crude immature blathering.

I am more cautious now where I respond and I do not check to see if my response met with approval or not.

What is the point?

My opinion or interpretation was asked for openly and I gave it openly. End of story.

I ignore the sophomoric remarks & running commentary, that people rudely post to earnest questions or those self-same answers.

Why bother?

Anyone who can not write a complete coherent thought in a sentence or correctly conjugate simple verbs, much less notice basic spelling typos or have the brains to use "spell check" when Yahoo offers it within the response box are either too lazy to use it...don't care what they sound like and have no self-respect or pride in themselves.

So fuggedaboutem...

Ignorance and stupidity is high on both sides of the religious fence. You have zealot religious fanatics and you have equally zealous fanatical Anti-theists.

Even though they are complete opposites in what they believe they share some of the same EXACT qualities, namely prejudice and ignorance.

You will find on Y! QnA especially in the Religion and Spirituality section, that many, but not all are here just to make a fuss or get a rise out of someone.

We call these trolls. These are the same people we pity on the streets when we walk by. However they are ignorant on both sides.

When you have a very open mind and you are a free thinker, or you are a caring person who actually wants to help answer questions you can find that there are people that will dog you, thumbs down you, or even report you for little to nothing. It’s just their way of feeling better about themselves, even though it can get harassing at times.

I just look to the smaller percentage of people who have real questions and like to discuss philosophy and Religion without the militant B.S.

In other words, Welcome to R&S here on Yahoo! Get used to it.. LOL

My point exactly, I have no idea why people get mad. You quote from the Bible then they think you are speaking nonsense. I mean if you don't agree with the Bible why answer the questions in the first place and offend people with the little knowledge that you have. The Bible/God said, "My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge". People quote straight from the bible and still they reject the Truth. What a shame though.

It's kind of supporting your team (basketball, football, soccer, etc). They can't find anything wrong with their team eventhough their team is wrong. Their team always right and given the benefit of a doubt. The other team is always wrong and should be hated. And if you are supporting the same team and think your team is wrong, then you will be the bad apple.

To make it simple:
1. Your team always right
2. The other team always wrong.
3. If in doubt, refer to rule no 1
4. If you think your team is wrong, refer to rule no 1
5. Anything else, refer to rule no 1.

Simple isn't it?

Getting mad is up to us.

Even I sometimes get mad with some people because of their stupid act and deeds.

However As a Roman catholic, my religion and the word of God make me calm all the time. So I have never been ended up in mental hospitals.

Thanks be to God.

I know it annoys me when someone puts a Bible verse and does not explain it. I don't get mad.

Because they think the world should be as they want it to be, rather than accepting it on its own terms.
