Try Hinduism; you can pretty much do whatever you want. That's what you're looking for in religion: convenience.

You are not offending me at all. I think it's wonderful that you are trying to work out everything about this faith before you jump into something. I'm going to start with the easier question. The idea that we are created in the image of God doesn't always refer to a physical feature. It can be seen in different ways. First off, some people see it as humanity's position in creation. We are given dominion over the world and over creation as God has the rule over everything. We are given the responsibility to be God's representative in creation. Secondly, some people also see it as that we are given a soul. God is spiritual. We are given a piece of that image as we are both physical and spiritual. The most important thing is the realize that we have a creator. We are not a creation without a creator. We are not alone in this world.
Next, your other question is a little more complicated. Christ died for our sins. Christ is God in the flesh. This is the mystery of the trinity. Let me give you something to think about first so this may be a little easier. I am a girlfriend to my boyfriend. I am a daughter to my parents. I am a sister to my older brother. I cannot be a sister to my parents. I am their daughter. These things are all different roles. And, in a way, they require different responsiblities. I cannot be a daughter to my boyfriend. I am his partner in life. It's a different role with different responsiblities. Now, I cannot be in three places at the same time being three different roles for three different people. This is humanity impossible. However, this isn't impossible for God. God is God the Father, Christ the son, and the Holy Spirit. The Father is the creator. The Son is Jesus Christ. This is God revealed to us in the flesh becoming wholly human and wholly divine. The Spirit is the empowerment that we are given and the ability to experience Christ. Just like I am a sister, a girlfriend, and a daughter, God has different roles as well. However, those roles can exist in different places at the same time. That is the mystery part. Yes, God is the supreme being. However, as the role of Christ he was ALSO human so he could die. The divine part is that he lives again and he is still alive now! That's the awesome part.
Look at this one other way. Think of a TV set. Maybe you have your tv on right now. Think about this. The TV station is the creator of all things that is TV. Without the TV station, you wouldn't be watching anything. Without the creation (God the Father), we wouldn't be here at all. He is the creator. The TV Set reveals to us the TV station. Without that set, your station could be there, but you wouldn't be able to watch the channel. You wouldn't get anything. Christ reveals to us the glory of God the Father. He came here so that we could understand and see God. The Son helps us to see the picture of God the Father. The signal is constantly there. We cannot see, but it's there. Without the signal, we wouldn't even have anything. The Holy Spirit is like that signal. It is the POWER behind the whole thing. The Holy Spirit empowers us and sustains us throughout the day. And that is what makes us want to tell other people about our faith. That is that power that we get. We have three wonderful ways to experience God. It's just such a blessing. I hope this helps. The point of the cross is God's goodwill toward us. It represents how far He is willing to go for us.
I might die for a friend, or for a stranger - but there's no way I would ever offer my child or put my child in danger for anyone for any reason. He is the Supreme being. And as such, He can do anything He pleases for whatever purpose suits Him. The cross was for our benefit and understanding, not His.
As for being created in His image, we are created in His spiritual likeness, not His physical image. He has taken on many images through time, including that of a dove.
God is spirit and those who worship Him worship in spirit and in truth, as Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well.
Best wishes in your search. I believe it is perfectly appropriate to pray for God to help you find Him.

Jesus, God's son, manifested himself into human form and went down to earth, which is where he died. Yes, he is the supreme being, but that also means death isn't a limit for him. He can do anything, even die.
As for your second question, it's a debated topic. Some say that we do indeed share some physical features of God, and some others believe that we were only constructed similiar to Him. God obviously doesn't look like us lowly humans, but maybe we were made off of his blueprint or something. It's hard to say.

The best thing I can suggest to you is to read the New Testament.
There are many Sects of Christianity and there are a few who are not true Sects and Believers.
In the New Testament it is not God, but his Son Jesus that died and returned. I have not, to this day, heard a "Christian" say "God" died and returned.....
Read for yourself.
In Genesis it says - Let us create man in our own image, both male and female.
God wanted us to look like them.
Read, read, read, and educate yourself on all the religious beliefs in the world today.

Being created in God's image wasn't physical. It was a spiritual image. Full of emotion and life.

first of all, Christianity is not a religion, bec religion has a lot of rituals and memorized prayers...it is rather a personal relationship with the Lord...
Jesus did not say, "I came that you might have religion, and practice it more faithfully," or "I came that you might have religion, and adhere to it more commitedly," or "I came that you might have religion, and define it more dogmatically," or "I came that you might have religion, and defend it more vehemently," or "I came that you might have religion, and thus behave more morally." What Jesus said was, "I came that you might have life, and have it more abundantly" (John 10:10). The life that He came to bring and express within us and through us is His life. "I AM the way, the truth and the life," declared Jesus to His disciples (John 14:6).
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16 NIV)
Jesus Christ was the one who died for our sins, not God...pls read the bible more...God bless!
if you want to know about Jesus, my advice is that you should find a good christian church near you and mingle with other christians....that way you would surely know God intimately...

God became a man so that he could die as a man for the sacrifice for sin. God himself is and forever will be very much alive.
We are a carbon copy of God...we don't look like him just resemble him.

if those are you only questions and issues with christianity you will make a fine christian. though i would suggest you haven't read enough of it then....
in answer to your first question, he has that all powerful thing going on so he split into his virgin born son (who was also god but went by the name jesus) and himself and he/his son became mortal and died as a mortal but then god brought him/himself back to life and sat him down beside himself at his right hand (which since he is also jesus was also his left)
then he sent down his third part, the holy spirit which is like a floating flaming tongue to visit his old friends cause they were upset over his death and then his holy spirit self jumped into them, they got all happy and ran around telling everyone about him and his jesus son who was also him and in doing so put his holy spirit self into the others who believed it.
hope that clears that up for you :)

My donkey speaks to Cinderella:
You are correct, Christ's divinity is immortal, and when He was found in human form, and that physical body was decomposed, had Christ sinned, God would have suffered eternal captivity alive in that body, but because God accepted that perfect sacrifice, and raised Him, Jesus/God can reign and govern this planet forever as the unfallen "last Adam."
Sinful man can not see God and live, yet they could see the Great I AM, and seventy elders saw God (Jesus) on Sinai and lived. You see, Jesus said: "Before Abram was, I AM" The Jews considered that blasphemy, speaking the holy name of God, and they sought to destroy Him. HeHaw!"
Blessings, Balaam
