Creationism is a belief, not science.

We know from Genesis 1:1 that God existed before He created all that we can observe. From the unobservable comes the observable. We have scientific estimates about the age of the Universe. So we know when God created it, but we have no idea about what we can not observe.

As a note, the observable will be unobservable (end times).

Answer: My belief is that God created everything we can observe at our oldest scientific time estimate. Other than that, God did not reveal any more detail.

The term "creationism" is often used for biblical creationism (the God of the Bible created the universe). It is not to be confused with intelligent design: "Intelligent Design is the study of patterns in nature that are best explained as the result of intelligence" (Dr. William Dembski). That's it; it says nothing of who the creator is and how or when he/she/it/they did it.

A simple, straightforward reading of the Bible (Genesis 1; Exodus 20:11; Mark 10:6; etc.) indicates that this is the first creation and the cosmos was created by God in six solar days less than 10,000 years ago (the Bible provides impressive chronological data that actually points to about 6,000 years ago).

I have to agree with Dr. Alfred Rehwinkel: “The language of the text is simple and clear. Honest exegetes cannot read anything else out of these verses than a day of 24 hours and a week of 7 days. There is not the slightest indication that this is to be regarded as poetry or as an allegory or that it is not to be taken as a historical fact. The language is that of normal human speech to be taken at face value, and the unbiased reader will understand it as it reads. There is no indication that anything but a literal sense is meant.”

Creationism is the belief that God created all things. As to when....only God knows for sure. I have a very personal relationship with God and He has not led me to believe in any particular time line or whatever. I know that He is capable of creating everything in a nano second if He so chose to do so. Or, He may have spent several billion of our years. What difference does it really make? If proof of a specific time line is truly necessary to believe in the existance of God, then the person does not have a personal relationship with Him. The Bible was written for man...not for God. How would you explain to an infant the workings of the universe?

I believe none of us has any idea. IF this universe was created by a "big bang", what happened prior to that and was that big bang just a part of an endless expansion and contraction of the universe? How would we ever know? I believe in God, but I also believe we cannot fully understand the universe in our mortal state. We will have an eternity to learn.
