Knowledge (gyanmarg) is a obstruction to lead bhaktimarg, because the followers would accept anything after testing its' authenticity. In bhaktimarg mere devotion to the deity /master or who ever one devotes is the essential. In gyanmarg whatever one gains treats it as his achievement, in bhaktimarg nothing is own ! whatever is with /around one including self are of his devoted one, that is the reason it is placed supreme.

THE SCRIPTURES SAY THAT KNOWLEDGE AND ACTION ARE THE AUXILLARIES OF BHAKTI.
edit-of course some knowledge is necessary. for example that this is God, he is all powerful and master of creation. You need this knowledge.though there can be exceptions for eg people developed Rama and Krishnas bhakti even though they hadnt any knowledge that this is the supreme soul. But God's beauty, opulence etc attracted them first. but here too there r a lot of things such as previous birth's karma and so on..DURYODHANA NEVER BECAME LORD KRISHNA'S BHAKTA BECAUSE HE WAS TOO SINFUL AND IGNORANT.
But as per my experience its bhakti that once you start with even little or no knowledge it leads to more n then complete knowledge.

Knowledge is not what one claims to get from reading scriptures. Knowledge means acceptance that we are a soul and not the body. This body is a transitory phase of the eternal.
When we meet a saint the true knowledge will be imparted to us by him. And it doesn't take even a fraction of second, when we come face to face with a saint, and with 100% reverence.

If u r seeking God then knowledge is not necessary but simple and pure heart is necessary. Example is Dhanna Jat, Bhilani who were people with no knowledge and there were saints with all knowledge but God appeared to Dhanna Jat and Bhilani ( also known Shabari). Faith is important in Bhakti and not knowledge.
