it incredibly is envy, no longer jealousy, it incredibly is a sin--a minimum of, it incredibly is envy it is between the Seven deadly Sins. despite if we in many cases use those words interchangeably, there's a distinction. Jealousy is composed of guarding one's rights, or what one perceives as one's rights. a toddler could sense jealous of a new child sibling because of the fact the toddler is drawing off the mothers and fathers' interest that the older toddler considers his unique appropriate. An person could sense jealous over an considerable different's infidelity or over the shortcoming of a advertising he or she needed and concept he/she deserved. So God is jealous interior the experience of no longer tolerating his followers' worship of something or every physique else. Envy is basically resenting or begrudging somebody else's stable fortune and feeling gratified whilst issues flow incorrect for that guy or woman. An resentful guy or woman could sense discontent along with his or her very own existence, full of advantages because it incredibly is, because of the fact somebody else has some thing he or she perceives as extra effectual, and could take malicious excitement in that different guy or woman's loss of it. those 2 thoughts can incredibly overlap, yet they do no longer seem to be same.

Jealous is a 'deadly' sin because it can lead to the big boys of sin. It's not a sin to be tempted. God would never commit the sins that can come from jealousy like a boyfriend killing a old girlfriend dating someone else. Jealousy is meant to be kind of endearing here. kind of like Scarlett told the Charles Hamilton she'd be jealous if he ate barbecue with anyone else.

yeah good try but since god is all powerful he can create a way for himself to be jealous without it being a sin. he might also be doing it just to be checking out what jealousy is like (maybe its up for review as a sin) so when he does he will either lift it from the sin chart or forgive himself. sounds crazy i know, but he has that whole mysterious ways thing going on.

Quick answer: No.
Problem with this statement is that you assume jealousy itself is a sin, but it is not. The actual sin that we commit is coveting of other gods when we are jealous, which is a big no-no. So big of a sin its stated in the 10 commandments. "gods" is a loose term for anything or anyone who you value more than the God.
Since God is not coveting other gods when He is jealous He is not committing any sin.

You, and others, impose human characteristics unto a non-human, limitless etherical being...understandable, considering the lack of understanding at large.
Jealously is a human emotion based in fear...fear is the opposite of love...God is a pure energy being...that pure energy is what true love is. Sin is a part of a human-created duality--good/bad...these do not exist at Home, nor are they anything relative to the Godhead except that they are recognized as creations we had the right & choice to make real for our purposes here.
As an unconditionally loving being, God makes no judgments of our creations, He simply joins in our experiences of them...this was & is the grand original purpose of Creation...See a little better???

No. I think this scripture is to keep us focused on our Father in Heaven so we don't allow ourselves to get distracted by things that will get us into trouble.
I think you are missing the biggest part of this scripture though. Our Father in Heaven says "I the Lord God am a jealous God...". Does this mean that there are other Gods who are not the jealous type, but our Father in Heaven is? Is there more than one creator out there? Are there other worlds?
I'm not saying there are, but what does this mean?

God is saying in that statement that he knows he is the only way for people to get back to heaven and that man made Gods will not do the trick. He loves us and badly wants us to turn from the man made Gods (Idols) to him for salvation. So yes he is a jealous God but it is still in all righteousness.

God is a holly God, He is never sin and He is righteous.
If you read Exodus 20, the first and the second commandments " “You shall have no other gods before Me.
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. "
God wants us to put Him first in our lives. An idol it's not necessary has to be a graven image, it could be alcohol, gambling, cars, etc. If we put alcohol first or gambling first in our lives, we make that into our idols.
He is a jealous God, because He wants us to be with Him eternally in heaven. He doesn't wants us to go to hell. That's why He sent His son to die for us.
Imagine your own earthly father, he will be jealous too if you spent your time with someone else father. He would wants you to spent more time with him first. Same thing with our heavenly Father.. Nothing more important to Him than lead you to eternal lives with Him.

Sin is lovelessness. True Love has a strong bond to the beloved that is called "jealousy" when the beloved's state of sanctity and dignity and wholeness is threatened - even through temptation to infidelity. This is proof of the profound dynamics of Love, and not sin. It is proof positive that the object of Love is treasured.
