I just got some Taiwan .30-06 on 1919 Browning belts. How do you remove the ammo from the belts? I thought it would just be cliped on but the links wrap pretty much all the way around the bullet. Can you just slide the ammo out?

Go here to see a pic of the ammo: http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/Taiwan_30.06_FMJ_Boxer_Primer.html

Not trying to sell anything. I just bought myself an M1 and that was cheap ammo. And I don't want to be messing around too much not knowing what I am doing.

That site just happens to have a good pic of the ammo.

I used to take 7.5X54 French off machine gun links and the process I used should also work.

Take one end of the belt and place the tip of the last bullet against a junk peice of wood. press down on the case heads of the cartridges to the side of the one against the wood with gradually increasing pressure. The loaded cartridge will then slide out of the link, repeat as necessary

The links are very similar to the ones we use in the Canadian Forces for all of our ammo belts.

And as such, I can tell you that while de-linking them is possible, it's going to be a pain. All you need to do is pull the round out. You'll probably have to twist and wiggle the round some so it'll come free, but it can be done.

Get a block of wood and a pair of light leather gloves and quit whining. Save the links as you can sell them or trade them. They may be worth more the the shells you are taking out of them.

The belt links will bend enough to allow the rounds to twist apart. with the belt held in front of you with the bullet pointing up, hold one round in each hand and twist the round in your left hand away from you and the round in your right toward you they will come apart easily.

Try Shotgun News, Midway USA, and I believe an outfit called Tactical Supply (I'm not sure of the last one).

It won't be easy to slide them out, but once you get a few, the links won't hold together as tightly, and it'll get easier.

I won't Report You. That is a very slick way to sell ammo on Yahoo. You know exactly how to get the ammo out of the belt. I do believe that is a very good price on the ammo though.
