They do make dropped spindles for your truck ya know. And ya can drop it at least 2 " I know from a few yrs back(probably more by now)Cutting the springs is what they did in the 50's and 60's(along with taking a torch and heating them up to drop em down) Not a good way of doing it. They do make lowering kits to drop both front and rearend down, starting with the spindles. Ya cut the springs and front end alignment is off and it rides like crap. So do it right and lower it with a kit offered by various co. out there today

If your looking to lower the truck.. just go out and get a lowering kit. Make less of a hassle and they come with warranties. Yea you'll spend a little bit more but you will have peace of mind. Plus the spring rate is probably shot in your front springs. Just another reason why you should just get new ones. Good Luck

Cutting springs will defintely alter your handling. Have you ever seen one of those trucks/cars that wobbles when it drives? Springs are formed with a particular resistance rate, specific to your trucks weight, height, design, and intended use. If you want to do it right buy a lowering kit.
Adding shocks to a cut spring will only wear those shocks out quicker.

Cutting the springs will definitely affect the handling...and not in a good way. Buy a lowering kit. They come with everything you need and are much safer and smoother.

It will ride like crap and the wheels will be out of alignment. Shocks won't help much as the ride will be hard and choppy. That was the poor man's way of doing things years ago.
