my elderly grandmother lives alone in a house. She lives next door to this family who moved in not too long ago, and just recently they started parking in front of her driveway. We asked them repeatedly (and in a nice, nonconfrontational way) to please not do that, but they kept on doing it anyway. So once night when I was over visiting we decided to call the police, because we had enough of their disrespect. They ended up getting a ticket. Ever since then they hadn't parked in front of her driveway - until tonight. My grandma and I went outside, and the whole family next door was outside and they started yelling at us for calling the police. The father said it is his yard and he can park in front of it, and we kept telling him that we didn't care if he parked in front of his house, just don't block our driveway. They wouldn't listen, and they cussed us out and said horrible things. My grandma doesn't want to move (she's been there 4ever), but doesn't want to get yelled at all the time

You have a number of options.
#1. It is illegal to block a driveway. Keep calling the cops and they will keep getting tickets and have to pay for each one.
#2. Since they park in front of your drive way and block it, do the same to them. Each time they do it, you do the same. They will catch on.
#3. Boards with nails work nice. Start some sort of construction project in your garage and every time they park in front of your driveway, accidently leave a board with a nail under one of their car tires.
#4. Dump a little sugar on the ground under the gas cap area of their car. Leave an empty 5 pound sugar bag next to their car. They will think you put sugar in the gas tank. They will believe if they run their car, it will ruin the engine, so they will spend a lot of money emptying out the tank. If they call the cops and say you put sugar in their gas tank, tell them they will have to prove it. Since there will be no sugar in the tank, they will be unable to do so.
#5. Get the biggest toughest biker you can find to come over and "talk to them." It is even more effective if he brings his biker gang to "talk to them."
#6....Run your sprinklers on an automatic timer at varied times. Make sure it hits your drive way and the street in front of the drive. If they park with open windows, their car will get soaked inside and stink forever.
#7. Find something they do not like. Playing classical music with the windows open drives a lot of people nuts. It does not have to be loud, just constant.
#8. When the wind is right, bad smells work well. Rotten eggs, bad food, etc. Specially if it comes right at supper time.
#9.. Put up a sign that says "cars blocking drive will be booted"...then boot their car..... and then go out for a nice long weekend.... Or have their car towed.....
#10...My favorite... Crazy glue their gas cap on. They will not realize there is a problem until they need gas and they can not get it off to fill the car... Since there will be quite some time between when you do it and they find it, they probably will not figure out who did it.... If you really want to be nasty, use Crazy putty and stick it down the filler pipe before you glue the cap on. That way once they get the cap off, they will still be unable to fill up their car...

Call the police non-emergency line and talk to them. Ask them to send a nice police officer over to explain where it's legal and illegal to park. Also explain that you're concerned at the level of anger expressed by the neighbors. Then keep an eye on your grandmother's house and let the neighbors know that you're watching out for her, because they may give her a hard time. Continue to call the police and ask that they ticket any car that's blocking the driveway. Also, if the family is renting, not owners, express your concerns the home's owner. Further, call the city government and have them clearly mark the curb as to where it's legal and illegal to park by marking the curb by the driveway red and posting "no parking" signs with arrows where they can't park. Good luck.

Well since the police could not help you in this matter, then try mediation. Basically it is like this:
A neutral person, called a mediator, attempts to coax the two disputing parties toward a voluntary settlement.
They do not render a decision in the dispute, but use a variety of skills to prod the parties toward agreement.
Because the parties maintain control of the process, the two antagonists (rivals) can speak freely.
No settlement takes effect until both parties sign
Since the goal is voluntary settlement, neither party needs to fear that it will end up the loser.
Removing the fear of defeat often encourages thinking and talking that are more open and realistic than negotiations held in the midst of a lawsuit.
I hope this helps you.

If the place you live has a noise ordinance it usually only goes into place after 11pm. This means people can make noise if they want to on their own property. I'm unsure about your description of "banging", if they are working or playing or ???. Still you can contact the police and see what or if anything can be done. I feel your pain as I have dealt with less than nice neighbors before.

They are Bullying y'all
Call the police again.. this time file harrasment charges and ask what other charges can be applied (is there a verbal assault charge?)
Then take that to the Magistrate.... they will have to deal with their own arrogance
Call the police EACH & EVERY TIME THEY DO THIS to get a record going
Find out who the owner of the house is... if they rent, send copies of all these reports to the homeowner
Do you have a neighborhood association? If so, enlist thier help.... you will be surprised at how important things like this are to them :)

If your grandma owns her house and the neighbor rents tell the manager. If they both own take your grandma down and file a legal complaint. In the complaint I would put they're abusive and harass your elderly grandma and she's been deeply upset. Enough is enough take legal action or it will continue and eventually get worse which isn't good for your elderly grandma's health. It's called harassment and elderly abuse.

These people don't sound too considerate at all. I personally am a peacemaker. It looks like push is gonna have to come to shove. Call the police out again, explain your side again and how thay respond to you and at the same time find out who their landlord is though you local assesors office just give them the address of the property and they will give you all the necessary info, call the land lord and ask him to talk to his tenants make sure you don't leave out any information explain how they respond to your resonable request.
