I have had two root canals and they did not hurt at all.
But one of the teeth did end up breaking in half anyway!

I have had many root canals. I had a health problem which caused this. I often had pain before the procedure because the tooth was decayed and hurting but I have never had the root canal itself hurt. Don't wait too long or you really will be in pain.

You will be find. The waiting and dreading it is the worst.

Nope. The worse thing for me was 1: the needle (which isn't any worse than one in the arm, but i'm a big baby!) and 2: the wait. Any dentist trip is boring with the wait.

And bringing an IPOD isn't a bad idea. Definately try that and see if the dentist would allow you to.

Truly, it depends on how you present. If you turn up to the dentist in alot of pain, then it might take a bit of cruelty to be kind. If you know the tooth has died, and it hasn't caused you any problems in the process, or has stopped hurting now and is not actively and severely infected, then the treatment will be more boring than anything else.

Not if you have a good Dentist, I have had 3 of them & none hurt, the only thing that might hirt is the shot they give to numb you. But if he puts a numbing liquid on it first that won't even hurt. I do not like Dentists but we need them for our health. If you can afford to go get your teeth cleaned 2 times a year & have annual check ups then you won't have to go threw this again. Good Luck remember, it will be over with be fore you know it.

No, it didn't hurt when I did it. They get a bad rap because some ppl go in when they have an infection. My mouth just felt tired from having to open for a long time but other than that, just felt like a longer filling. And no pain except for the little pinch from when they did the numbing shots. Good luck!

I had a root canal. It was the least painful thing I ever had.

Not if you have a good dentist. I only had one and was scared. The funny thing is I fell asleep while he was doing it.

It wasn't that bad.

asap dude, before you get too infected-that's really really bad!!!!!!!!!!!! yup-it does hurt, especially if they forget to numb you first (which i've actually had happen-eeeek-i was like-what the hell!!!) but in the long run it's better for you to just do it and get it over with.
