German Panther was hard to service and maintain, rushed into production before all the bugs in the system were ever worked out, the inter-leaved road wheels were a right pain to work on, any damage to the inner road wheels through mines meant all the outer road wheels had to be stripped off first.
Turret was too small, under the gun barrel at the turret was a shot trap and it susceptible to being hit in the rear and sides around the engine decks causing engine failure.
The Russian main battle tank was the T-35 which evolved into the T35-85. In reality was the best tank of WW2, mass produced, good engine speed ratio to track width, not built for comfort but to get the job done, The russians followed the maxim of K.I.S.S.

Yes, I agree.
The Panther was the best tank design of the war with a great balance of mobility, firepower and protection.
The Shermans and T34s were easier to produce and repair because they were less sophisticated but they were easy prey for the Panthers on the battlefield. Even the improved versions such as the T34-85 fell short of it in combat.
The Tiger was a great tank but it was slower and with a shorter range and it was more vulnerable from behind.
Like all tanks the Panther had its faults. Sure it was rushed into combat at Kursk before being properly finished but its production problems were largely ironed out afterwards. The "shot trap" mantet was also fixed. In its later models I believe that it had less shortcomings than any other tanks of the period.
It was also good to look at which is always helpful in any coolness competition!
Fortunately it wasn't cool enough to win the war for the Nazis.

.This a personal thing with me. I have a thing about the M-4 Sherman. It was a stop Gap tank. Made to replace the M-3. There were eight model's and about 25 variation's of the Sherman. they used five different motor's in them They were used as attack tank's , assault tank's, tank destroyer's and tank retriever's. One model of Sherman was armed with a 105MM howitzer . This is to the gentleman who said the Sherman kicked the tiger's butt. The army would send 4 or 5 M-4's out to knock out 1 Tiger. Usually, Two or three M-4's didn't come back. The Sherman was used in more theater's of war than any tank in history. The M-4A3E8 was used in Korea. The Israelis, to the best of my knowledge still use a highly modified version of the Sherman today. NOW that's the Coolest tank in any war.Of course I'm prejudiced.

no, I think the Tiger tank was a little better, but there were not many Tigers made, I think I heard there were about 200 made, but don't take that as science.
