That's a great point. Cars don't have accidents. People do. I don't think the infectious parasites, otherwise known as insurance companies, would agree though.

I don't know where you buy your insurance, but every policy I've ever had has me listed at the policy holder with the ability to declare any or all of my vehicles for coverage. It is called a multiple vehicle discount. You don't get charged full price for the 2nd or 3rd vehicles. You can also insure your household under one policy if you have more than one driver living at the same address. It's called a family policy.

they require this to insure that if you hit someone or hurt some one in an accident that the vehicle your driving is insured,it would be nice if we could buy one policy for all of our vehicles, but then look at all the money the insurance company's would loose, its basically a money game sometimes, but i agree one policy should cover all a persons vehicles, but it will never happen ,good luck with it.

Right but what if someone else is driving the veh instead of the person who owns it. Then that person is not covered. The insurance follows the veh not the person, as u basically noted above. In the world of insurance a person can not be liable to there self so therefore need to have sep coverage on each veh.

There used to be states that allowed you to purchase a financial responsibility package but people found ways to abuse this. So now you either have to list your vehicles or buy individual coverage on each one. Exactly how it is done is up to the insurance company you use. Blame the cheats!

For one thing, what if you let someone who's uninsured drive your car? For another, why would the insurance companies want to write one policy for an individual who owns two or more cars?
