Yes for both! For turkey use a game head like the Tekan small game head they are super for turkey! The 45lb bow is good for deer with a razor sharp broad head use a single blade cut on impact head! I have taken 20 plus deer and hogs too with my 45lb recurve bow with very clean kills!

Either draw weight will work which ever your more comfortable with recurves aren't exactly harder to pull back but there's no let off so you have the full weight the entire time look around for an older bear bow you find them for about 50 dollars or so

Absolutely, I use a 45lb recurve bow and the Whitetail Deer only went eight (8*) yards before it was down. It is very important to limit your shots to Thirty- Five (35*) yards... The Deer was only Five (5*) yards from me when I shot it from my tree stand.... Good Luck and great Hunting > Happy Trails....

Absolutely! I used to have a 45# Bear Grizzly recurve bow and it would be deadly up to 50 yards with razor points...turkey? Boy! Those dumb birds are hard to kill even with a shotgun. I would try a rubber bludgeon tip first. Good luck.

I have killed several deer with my recurve. It is a 55lb Fred Bear. 45 should be enough but you do have to be acurate with it. A recurve ussually doesnt have the sight pins and some people just cant shoot instincually.

Like any other affective kill...it is PLACEMENT that kills most effectively.
The American Indians bows were no where near the bows we shoot today. I suspect there draw weight were less than 40 lb's, for the most part.
Every kill i have ever made with a bow ..was under 15 yards, and a majority of those were even closer... elk, deer, a bear, 2 moose and a mountain lion were all taken with bows less than 55 lb's pull.
Bow hunting is a mental skill, as much as it is any other aspect of 'equipment'...

My brother did kill a nice spike buck with his recurve, unfortunately, he had to track it for a mile or two and had to shoot it two more times. (I think his is a 50 lb recurve)
It can be done, but I personally would not do it. There is too much of a chance of wounding the animal vs. killing it outright.

Turkey should be fine, but yournot gonna get great penetration with 45 lbs. on a deer unless its a spike or button buck.

Yes ,if the animal to be harvested is close enough, though you might want to kick it up to 50# on your draw for deer or bigger game.

45 lb draw will work on turkey, but it's kinda light for deer.
