.

You know an opossum has a tail sort of like a snake. Do you think the opossum and the snake has common ancestors?

A snake has a body and a tail just like any other reptile.

A possum does not have a tail like a snake.
A snake's tail has scales, a possum's tail does not.

Snakes, man, possums and monkeys all evolved from organic chemicals.

Yo thanx, street skills!
You're clear and logical explanation certainly plugs all the holes in MY theory!

Wasn't the serpent's doing. God cursed the serpent and told him that he would crawl on his belly and eat the dust all the days of his life. Satan disguised himself as a crafty serpent and lured Adam and Eve from God by tempting them. This animal was (my guess) probably like a lizard or iguana. It probably had legs until the curse. Now, it is a snake that slithers on the ground. I've always wondered if in perfect paradise, did animals talk? Because it didn't seem to phase Eve when an animal talked to her. God bless

GOD said to the snake you're crawling near dirt from punishment from tempting Eve. If the snake had arms , legs ,is highly possible. GOD thinks we're smart at figureing words, yet doesnt' seem the human race can quite get back to the Eden state. Jesus plans on putting humans back in the Eden way of life in Revelations.

"The fossil history of snakes is very poorly known, since snake skeletons are very delicate and do not fossilize easily. By carefully examining the fossil materials which have been recovered, and by making comparisons of the anatomy of living snakes and their relatives, biologists have been able to reconstruct something of the evolutionary history of snakes. Snakes, like all living things, are the product of the process of evolution, which allows species to change over time in response to environmental factors to produce entirely new species. The engine of evolution is "natural selection", in which those individual animals that possess superior survival traits tend to live longer than others and reproduce, in turn passing those same traits on to their offspring.

According to most paleontologists, reptiles evolved from the large group of ancient amphibians known as Labrynthodonts, which received their names from the distinctive structure of their teeth. In the Labrynthodonts, the enamel of the tooth was folded in on itself to form a complex mazelike pattern."

Interesting question. One of the few I've seen today. I'll be curious to see some of the answers. Makes you wonder why a lizard evolved with legs when it didn't need them.

Cheers :-)

The serpent who deceived Eve and caused Adam to disobey God in the Garden of Eden was *not* a snake, as is commonly depicted! The serpent lost its legs because it was cursed by God! Since evolution is a grand deception by Satan, who indwelt the serpent, isn't this a bit ironic?

Some snakes like pythons wrap their 'tail' around the victim... not very effective if you have legs in the way.

Are we better because we have arms and legs?

If you see the love affair between the snakes you probably change your opinion.

Research snakes. Evolution explains it well.

The snake used to have legs way back then in the garden of Eden. Then when he tempted Adam and Eve, God cursed him to live the rest of his being without legs.
