I've been talking to this guy for 6 years online, he's the person I go to for everything, and I'm basically in love with him. I'm 17 and he's 21...we want to meet but he is scared he could go to jail just for meeting me with my parents right there. He could go to jail for 10+ years. Could this really happen? Should we risk it because this could be the only chance to meet in the next few years? What are your views on this?

We are just going to hang out, no sex. My parents know about us hanging out together, like going to the beach and getting lunch together.

You can't go to jail for having friends.
Some states the age of consent is 16, 17 for sex.
Are you planning on meeting him or sleeping with him?
There is a big difference.

Yes he could possibly go to jail, he doesn't know you for real and he could be talking to the police and setting up a date with them, he walks into your house and the cops arrest him. He should use caution.
On the other hand if your parents have consented to the meeting then there should be no problem unless he is lying or has something else to hide. You can't be so sure with this on line thing people can be whatever their minds tell them to be like now I think I am Dr. Phil but I have no credentials to prove it. You see I am whoever I want to be and there is no penalty unless the cover is removed in a face to face meeting. Do you see his dilemma or fear now?
How can you get around this have your parents who are not minors set the date up therefore it is two consenting adults consenting to meet who introduces their daughter during the the date.
SIMPLE NO LIES NO GAMES NO COPS

Study the laws in your state regarding the age for dating. Unless the law of your state says that a 21 year old, and a 17 year old can't be together then it's not really an issue. if it does state that it's considered statutory rape then I think you better wait until your 18. Do some research to find out. If you have already waited 6 years what's 1 more.

i dont know about the whole leagalities behind this type of situation but i do know you are still underage. if your parents are okaying you going off to the beach and other places with this guy, i dont see what you and this guy are afraid of. to me i dont think your telling the whole story for people to give adequate answers. you have been talking to this guy online for six years already so whats another year gonna hurt if you two are in love to meet up with one another. if this guy is so afraid of going to jail for doing something illegal with a minor, he might just wanna check up on the legalities of having online conversations with a minor. just thought i'd mention it. to be honest i think you two should hold on one more year. just to be on the safe side and give yourselves a chance to really evaluate your relationship.

Wait until you are 18.Some states will allow the two of you to date ,but no sex. When I was 22 I dated a16yo.Her parents were OK with it,because they trusted her.If you cant wait, why dont you talk to your parents and get their thoughts on it, you might be surprised. They may be more open than you think. If they say no way, then all you can do is wait until your 18th.

If and only if your parents are going to be there meet with him. If they don't know absolutely everything about your relationship than don't meet with him.
Being open and honest with your parents will make this fun and if you are not your meeting will be stressful if not deadly.

He won't go to jail if your parents are okay with it! did you know that? If your parents aren't okay with it then wait one more year. What's one more when you've waited six?

Are you extremely hot? Because if you're not jailbait, I wouldn't risk it.
