As an immigrant from the UK who moved here in 2001 I am both proud to be an American yet at the same time ashamed many of my fellow Americans for the level of ignorance and ingratitude that they show. I come from a country with very similar cultures and for the most part, the same way of life yet there are some fundamental "rights" that are not afforded the ordinary citizens where I come from. An example would be the right to defend ones self and others - a basic right etched in stone for every American. Another example would be the right to free speech - a right guaranteed by the spilling of blood from many patriots who have come before me yet many Americans see that right as a means to defile and disgrace those who fought for that freedom. Don't get me wrong, I most certainly want to be here I just feel that some Americans have taken their "rights" to a level where they expect everything to be done for them and then, when the opposite proves to be true, they blame everyone else for their "misfortune". Many Americans appear to harbor the belief that everyone else owes them something when the truth of the matter is that the only person who owes you anything is yourself - you owe it to yourself to pursue your happiness and to do what ever you need to do to have the life that you desire - no-one else owes that to you. You should be prepared to work for whatever it is that you desire and to treasure what you do have because there are many millions of people around the world who would literally give up body parts for a fraction of what most Americans have.

Land of the free BECAUSE of the brave. I have been enough places around the world to know that while we may not be perfect, this is the BEST country on earth. I have had the honor to serve with the best people this country has to offer and trust me, as a country, we are in good shape. I love my country and will defend her till my last breath.

I served In the U.S. Navy for only 4 years. If there had been a crisis I would have stayed as long as they could use me.
Illegals haven't paid their dues, yet they gather together to talk about their rights. What rights, I don't get it........but then that's why they're call "Illegals".
I'm proud and I'm pissed at the same time.

Sure am!! I live part-time in Hungary(my husband ecaped from there 35 years ago when it was communist) He still has family in Europe.People seem to envy me when they find out that I am an American. You don't know how great the US is unless you can compare it to somewhere else. I get so upset when I see how our goverment is treating us.We deserve better from them!!It is always a wonderful feeling to arrive back in the states.

Best country in the world and you are free to leave if you don't like it !!

Ain't it great??

So what are some of you waiting for??

Either Love It Or Leave IT!!!

PS: Russell You have the opportunity to make something of your life without being discriminated against., and it Is YOUR CHOICE and you have the freedom to do so!

Caligirl: Nobody keeping you here you can leave any day NOW!! It's called freedom nobody will hold you back!

Brainstorm: The borders are open you canb leave any time you want! Do you need some help?

Tenderly: This ones for you!
just amazes me, how many ignorant people here think that Bush did this by himself!!

He had a lot of help from both Dems and Republicans both of which started flip flopping when it was a convenience to save face.

At least he had the Gonads to Follow it thru and deal with it weather you think he was right or wrong does not make a difference as NO ONE can tell what would have happened if anything were done differently.

The choice was made with a lot of outside help and he stuck to it!! To Me that's important that a person doesn't flip-flop mid stream to save face.

Please take a little more time to research before putting foot in mouth Yours, and mine are only opinions and they don't count until you vote.

I have met soooo many people that have so much to say and then they didn't even vote or are even were aware what their politicians stood for!

This doesn't mean I agree with everything that was done but I appreciate the fact that it will be followed thru.

Friend what i think is... everyone should show pride towards his or her nation.

The country which is giving identity, food, shelter, and many things to us , is definetely ment for a matter of respect.

moreover we must not only feel pride to live in a country or so, but we must feel pride about surrounding atmosphere that hasadded to our happyness.

There are villages in world, where ppl dont even know that they are living in which country but they are happy like any thing,, For me every part of the earth is a pride substance if it gives u a inner happiness...

Sorry if it hurts anyone

Moreover, like all...
Yessss... i m proud to be an INDIAN... The nation where human being not only have love for their own citizens but they consider a guest as an image of God.. We have place for each and every person and we love them from our heart. Here ppl find animals sacred... even stones are worshiped...
Younger touches feets of their elder as they think heven is their under their feets.. and so on...

Be good with your soul and every place will seems like a matter of pride.

Always will be. Strong military family. My baby brother is 3rd generatin airborne. I served in the military and law enforcement until my body was no longer up to it. Might not always like my government but will always love my country. Carlos Mencia said it best how great a country is this when African-Americans chose to stay here even after slavery.
