It has changed my view about atheist. I had a misconception about them, I had always believed it was a devil worshipping type thing with them, then I was informed that they didn't worship the devil..mainly because they didn't believe in him.

OK, I don't know where on this spectrum this places me. I'm a Wiccan, I believe in God AND Goddess so I'm NOT an Atheist. Neither am I a Christian, I don't believe the bible, have read it but was too uncomfortable with the many inconsistancies found throughout it. Explored MANY religions until I came to Wicca. It "speaks to my spirit, what you Christians call a soul. MY bible is the universe itself. I see the truth, the beauty, the love and the ecstacy of love, life and creation in every single thing in existence, Now from the many posts that I've seen here, there are SOME Christians that are as evil, hateful and bigotted as the being that you call Satan. I've ALSO seen Atheists that are as loving, caring, and compassionate as any beings that you call angels. I've come to the conclusion that it's NOT the religion that makes a person good or bad, it's the person him/herself that makes them that way. It's ALL a matter of free choice. Some CHOOSE to be evil in their demeanor and others CHOOSE to be GOOD in theirs. Some folks just live to get a "rise' out of folks, they live for the discord that they can spread amongst people. I feel sorry for them because they LOSE themselves in the process. I CHOOSE to NOT be that way and the more of us that likewise make that choice, the better off we ALL will be in the final end of things. To you GOOD folks out there, Brightest Blessings to you ALL. To the folks who just want to cause trouble, GROW UP. Life is SO much easier and more pleasant if we simply show each other common courtesy and respect.

Honestly, what is there to perceive, speculate, or consider?

If anyone can breathe the fresh morning air, see a sunset, a mountaintop, the oceans, the forests, the flowers, feel the warmth of the sun, the coolness of the grass under their feet, witness the miracle of birth, and count stars glittering like diamonds in the night sky and still believe that there is no Divine being who is also a Master Creator...much less a Loving God, who with infinite genius, boundless love and deeply intense forethought created all that we have and enjoy...they are as the Bible says, "They have eyes to see but are blind."

I am not arrogant enough to believe myself, much less mankind, some ape ancestor, some primordial ooze or some Cosmic Bang is capable of, much less possibly the author of this world and is therefore responsible for the diversity in all things, the uniqueness of the human races, beauty and breath-taking majesty I see, hear, feel & experience each day.

Yet it is interesting, that though they do not believe in anything beyond and/or greater than themselves, they are drawn to, interested in, and seek to involve themselves (admittedly negatively and condescendingly for the most part) but still involve themselves in topics of a spiritual and religious nature.

Nor am I arrogant enough to think for one minute that anything I might say will manifest a heart and/or life change in anyone...that is God's job.

I am only a messenger...delivering an invitation for a proper introduction...God does the rest.

I'm not a Christian, but I'll answer anyway.

I don't have a problem with atheism per say... in fact I'm married to one. However, I do have a problem with those that try to force their beliefs on others. If people could be truly honest they'd see there's no 'proof' either way to God, religion, etc. So why be so condescending to those that do have a belief structure? I say to them like they say to Christians to show me proof before thinking I'm an idiot for believing in God.

Anyway, atheists' responses haven't really affected me. I will still believe in God and an afterlife until I have reason to believe otherwise.

I'm not sure I have heard a true atheist perspective here - just bitter and venomous attacks against all organized religion.

It seems that the most vocal atheists here are more 'against' something than they are 'for' anything.

My atheist or agnostic friends are not this way in person. So I don't believe this forum shows an accurate portrayal of the atheist perspective.

To be honest, I'm not quite surprised because we christians fall into to many countradiction on what we say and what we do, plus the church has fallen into too many pollitical games that are not really of its concern but as a moral and religious leader. Some just find the ritual to boring and repetitive plus it sometimes is unrealistic to XXI century day to day reality. We must approach to human as much as we can for the to believe, we must predicate with the example and we must keep always an open mind. God does not need us to believe in simple dogmas and tabus he wants us to know him and to think what the true message given by Him really means.
"I new comandment I give thee, to love thy neigthboor as I love thee" Do we actually put into practice?
The lack of believers is a reflex of how we should chage for the better. They dont believe in God or they renounce believing becuase we just can't share the The True Message because, do we believe it? Do we take into practice?
Gandhi said "Cristianity is the best way it's a shame that nobody practice it" that day he just hit the nail.

It made me thankful that God has given me the Faith in His Son, Jesus and the family who raised me in the Faith. I was very surprised at how many people really do not believe in God/Jesus. I've always heard that there are no true atheists. But now after hearing from so many, I no longer doubt their existence. I'm more saddened at this tho than before I got on this forum for all the lost. It made me feel the urgency to reach out and share with those who may listen to the good news. God bless

I have learned that they are much more narrow minded than I would have thought. Basically spouting the same things by rote, which is what they accuse Christians of doing. At least our God loved us enough to have it written by His servants of old that we can at least have a reference point. The god of this world, who is the father of lies and the author of confusion, did not even think to give the atheists a book to argue over.

I am a christian but have many atheist friends, we respect each other and agree to disagree. Still some times they come to me for answers (curiosity I suppose) about " what does your God say about such and such?" I respectfully answer them with the word of God.

Actually one of them was taken by the Holy Spirit at one point and now is a christian....

I know about Budhism, New Age which comes from Hindouism and many religions, beliefs, and I personally made my choice based on proof.

If you wish to read more, it is a proof of God and it is here:

And no one brainwashed me into this, just God showing me He IS.

It made me take a look at myself, and wonder if we that are Christians are somewhat to blame for a few of their views. When Jesus taught love your neighbor as thy self, he did not mean to just love Christians. If people do not have the same views as you. Attacking them is not going to make them come to believe.

Ephesians 4:29

I think one needs to have a basic understanding of BOTH sides of an issue to be able to understand their own position.

If one side blindly follows others, and says the opposing viewpoint is totally without merit, then they are ignorant to the extreme and their opinions count for little.

I am Christian, but I can understand the reasoning of agnostics, I have a bit of a problem understanding atheists, except that they are actually agnostics with overly developed egos.
