Peace Corps alternate?

I really wanted to join the Peace Corps but I'm 18 and haven't gone to college and I don't have any job experiance, I have looked at AmeriCorps and wasn't really interested in it, and I live in the U.S.

Have you checked out Mercy Ships? (mercyships.com) They have a great program, you get training, then travel to another country aboard a huge ship, then back home, much less time commitment than Peace Corps.

Why not go to college, THEN join the Peace Corps?

While in school, you can get a lot of community service experience- H4H builds, red cross, literacy, etc.
