I just purchased a 42 inch Samsung plasma TV with the Samsung HD ready upconversion DVD player. I'm currently using the Monster Home HDMI cable and Monster clean power surg protector but I don't seem to be getting the same crisp picture that the floor model had in the store. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong. Should I upgrade my HDMI cable to the M1000 or Flat Screen Monster, or is it likely something else? Thx

An M1000 HDMI isn't going to make a huge difference, but changing your resolution on your upconvert will. Make sure it's out putting 720p or higher (you can do this by accessing your DVD setup menu, or depending on the model you have, you can toggle resolution from the remote or the component itself.)

You can also get ISF optimization which will make your TV perform better, look better and last up to 30% longer.

The colors (especially on non-HD content) are truer, resulting in a way sicker picture than out of the box.

I hope This Helps.

Your 42" plasma has a native resolution of 1024x736
Use the following resolutions on your player for best picture:
480i , or 480p, or 720p.
It may look strange, but the TV may be better in upconverting the 480i signal than the DVD player.

If you use 1080i/p in effect you scale up on the player and then scale down on your TV. It is best to scale the signal only once.
In any case, the DVD source is SD. You need an HD source to get the best possible signal.

FIRST.....get RID of the HEAVY monster cable Before it damages the HDMI connector on the TV !!

Get a nice LIGHT-weight set of cables...it doesn't have to be monster since it's a DIGITAL signal and not an ANALOG signal....Those RIP-OFF salesmen !

NOW....how do you get as good a picture as THEY HAD?
Simple.....get HD satellite TV.

Dish HD is best.....
Verizon TV HD package is the Next best (not as many HD channels)
Cable HD is 3rd (more reliable than Direct TV's tiny dish)

Take back the upconversion HD player.... if it can't take an HD-DVD and play it....it's worthless for HD quality pictures....

YOU WANT a Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD player....
It not only plays HD-DVDs......it improves present day DVDs

IT MUST play HD-DVDs , not just the old-time DVDs....
And I think they sold you one of those $85 old time DVD players that just sends the signal out on 1080i....what good is that, taking 480 and sending it out to a 1080 pipeline....

You do have a right to buyer's remorse....They get you all jacked up about your NEW HD purchase....then they start selling you EXTRA CRAP that they think is good...WITHOUT researching it.
They tried to sell me the Monster Cables and the HD upconversion unit....but I researched it.....
