[Not a dermatologist]
Consult with a facialist too - they remove blackheads, and do a nice job, too!
Get a recommendation from someone - I bet they are a lot cheaper than a doctor.

Blackheads don't need to be removed by a Dermatologist!. All you need to do is get a deep facial and have the aesthetician suction out the blackheads.

Facials are expensive and you will need to go at least twice a month and then get touch-ups once in a while.

But here's a really helpful tip-but don't tell anyone :) (just kidding! )

The best facial you can get for almost next to nothing is at a Beauty School. They have the best and latest products and the work is overseen by a professional instructor-you cannot go wrong! Ask for a Senior student-or even better ask when the instructor is giving a demo-you can be the model-I guarantee you will be very happy.

You can also go back anytime for follow ups.

This is not true for getting acrylics, hair-cuts or color. That is not the best place to go to for styles.

I've never had them removed by a dermatologist, but I have had a spa facial at the salon and they remove them in the process of steaming your face.

The facial was $40, but this was at a school salon, done by a student, but it was fabulous - I think in a regular salon the spa facial would run 3 to 4 times as much.
