Sorrow and Joy are like opposite ends of magnets.
They will push or pull on each other.
They both arise from the heart.
Spiritual advancement, should actually be called spiritual understanding. It is this understanding that allows man to
see the truth within both Joy and Sorrow, and give thanks
for the opportunity to experience each. When this happens
it is a sign that Contentment has been placed within the heart.
There is no ego in Joy.
There is no ego in Sorrow.
Therefore neither is greater or better than the other.
Both are instructors...teaching Humility, Compassion & Love.
Many tools are necessary when mans heart needs to be opened, and these are two of the best.
Clearing the mind and bringing it to a state of peaceful rest is ultimately needed for man to understand these God given emotions, called Joy and sorrow.

yes sorrow is better than joy. In bad or good, we think god is allways with us as a friend. When we are used with sorrows or pain or some difficulties, that's how we learn good onces and here we could to know there should not be any expectations in life.
If you takes difficulties, sorrows and pain as a joy, even fate cannot win us. This is how they say in tamil proverb "Vithiyai mathiyal vella mudiyum" means, fate can be win by our intelligence. In spirituality , i belive this is possible.

Joy is better, because joy is an expression of faith. Ultimately when you are facing a problem the answer to chasing away your blues will involve having faith in God. I believe that is why the Bible says "the joy of the Lord is our strength." So have faith in God that is so sure, so strong, that it bubbles over into joy and peace.

Most of all things on earth I hated pain.... till God hurt and tortured me, then it was revealed to me that pain is only a perverse and recalcritrant shape of excessive delight !!
In spirituality Pains and Sorrows have four stages :
1- When it is only pain... only sorrows
2- When it is sorrow & pain that causes pleasure
3- When it is pain that is Pleasure
4- Finaly pains and sorrows become a fierce form of Delight and Divine Biss.
Sorrows and pains are the reminder that we are not yet perfect to withstand...God's unconditional Bliss.
