There are different types of wine kits. Some use condensed juice that you have to top off with tap water. The better ones are pure juice. They cost more but it comes down to three or four dollars a bottle in the long run.

I have tried a few home make wines from different people, Some are real good while others I would not wash my socks in.

My husband's uncle ferments his own wines from kits and it tasted pretty good.
