Oh my goodness, I've had so many indications that God answers our prayers. But I've learned simply to ask for God's help, not always to ask for specifics. I believe that when He answers, it may not be the answer we want or expect (though so frequently it is, for me anyway).

When I finally grasped the idea that I was being invited to have a relationship with God, and that it was okay to turn problems over to Him (but I had to be willing to let go of it), it was SO liberating.

I've asked for help on some of the most obscure things: I was late for work and was going to miss joining a conference call on time - a call that I was responsible for. When I got to work (late), I had an email that the customer had an unexpected conflict and could we reschedule?

I once went out to pick up lunches for five people in our group. But I forgot to get utensils for them, and thought I'd check our canteen. But finding spare plasticware in there was highly unlikely and I felt really badly about messing up this part of everyone's order. I said a quick prayer on my way down to the canteen, opened a drawer and found a bunch of forks!

I've also asked Him to watch over family members when they're making a 5 hour drive. Last year, they saw a reckless kid come tearing up the highway behind them, and he lost control of the car. Because my family took two cars, they were travelling one behind the other. The reckless driver caused both family members' cars to slam on brakes, swerve and by rights they both should have been involved in the accident. But miraculously, only the reckless driver's car flipped.

And as a result of the blessings I've seen and been given, I've learned to say THANK YOU for the smallest things. For finding a lost item, for remembering something I was supposed to do at the last minute, for making a light when it might have turned red. It's a simple thing ... just say THANK YOU. It's amazing what you might discover!

Thanks for letting me share -- and blessings to you!

Yes, the Power of Prayer is Great. Prayer brings Peace, Happiness and an ability to look for and towards the Positive . Prayer brings Positive thinking. When in the deep dark valleys of our lives and at times it seems like there is no way to turn. I pick up my Holy Bible and read . Go to bed and pray, then when I get up in the morning, things and thoughts seem to be better. A New Day. Prayers are answered for Peace of mind, healing, Love, friendship, comfort, and much more for our inner self. Many times prayer is not answered for greed, hate, crime, and much more. Like Garth Brooks sang this song: " Thank God for Un-answered Prayers ". Sometimes prayers that are not answered are for the best reasons.

I've seen a lot of people that are unhappy, drug addicted, miserable and everything else that a life can be without some type of guidance and I've also seen a lot of these same people turn their lives over to God and become happy, in recovery, joy, hope and turn their whole life around all thru prayer. I love to pray and I love the power of prayer.

I completely believe that prayers are herd by God. He does help. I have prayed for so many things, I couldn't write them all down. There is no "how to pray" you just say what you have to say to God. You need help with something, then ask. You want to say thanks for something then say thanks. God doesn't answer some prayers because he knows what is best for the person. If you've ever watched "Bruce Almighty" you'll know why he doesn't answer all the questions. Not because he can't but because he doens't.

I try my best not to believe in god, but there are some things in life I wouldn't risk for my ego, and that's my brother's health and happiness. This is the only time when I say to god: "I know I don't believe in u, but just in case, watch my brother out and give him happiness. Until now my brother is ok,and I know it's not due to any god, because god doesn't exist. Try not to expect god to make your life better, because u are the only person in control of your life. I try not to pray for myself because I know that it is me that can do whatever I ask from a god to do. It is only my brother's life that I can't control and I'm praying that it will turn out fine. Though my logic says that such things are stupid I love him so much that I can ignore my beliefs and put aside my own opinion about god's existence.

Yes I believe prayer is more powerful than we know. I prayed for my non-believing father for ten years. I saw absolutely no evidence that any of my prayers had any effect whatsoever. Four days before he died, Dad said he wanted to go to heaven and my sister led him to Jesus Christ.

Answers to prayers can take decades. What does it matter? If my purpose in life was to pray for my Dad, I consider that one reason a life worth living.

People can say what they want; I have seen the power of prayer.

yes, I have seen many instances where God has done a total 180 on someone (our pastor used to be a drug addict and literally became a Christian overnight). God always hears our prayers. Just bc/ he doesn't answer in the way we expect or want or he answers with a no doesn't mean He isn't there listening. God's # 1 goal is to draw us close to Him bc/ He grants us peace, and gives us thriving lives not just mere existence so when a prayer isn't answered it's usually bc/ it is not beneficial to you in drawing closer to Him. Does that make sense?

I don't understand why an all-knowing being would require you to pray in order for your thoughts and hopes to be heard. So no, I don't think it would make any difference to a god, if one existed.

I do think that it could make a difference to the person who is praying. Positive thinking can certainly affect an outcome.
