On the Internet, it seems as if they're constantly fighting like cats and dogs.
In real life, however, they seem fine toward each other.

They can. I have a good friend who once told me he was an atheist although now he claims to be more agnostic. I am a Christian. We do debate about God often and politics too.
We joke together, have lunch together, and I believe would be there for the other if needed. We work together very well most of the time. Though we don't always agree, we respect each others right to have his own opinion. Why not? What good does hatred and bickering do?

I guess it depends on the person... some Christians are very fanatic. They argue and talk about god all the time. But there are some Christians that are very open minded too.
My sister is the fanatic kind.. and she always argue and fight with family and people who start talking about perspective of god.. etc. It is really a pain.
I am a christian too but I get along well with my atheists friends.

I get along better with Atheists than I do with Islamics.
Atheists just say God doesn't exist
Islamics say I'm a BLASPHEMER in their book!
One a scale of 1-10 I'm the SAME as an ATHEIST to them!
On a scale of -10 to +10 an Atheist is a zero an an Islamic is a -10

I have some friends who are not Christians. In fact, I know some who declare they are atheists. We get along as long as there is little conversation about religious beliefs. We have determined that this is a subject that is a no-no. Obviously, I don't hang out with them that much. But you wanna know something funny? I was on a plane with one of these non-Christians and we hit some hard and heavy turbulance before landing in Detroit. The plane suddenly dropped a few feet and he was the loudest hollering, "Oh, God, help us!"

I'd say they get along, regardless of beliefs. The differences are seen online due to the focus on beliefs here. On the outside, this does not come up much it seems. If it does, I for one refuse to debate. I do not think anyone should try to shove their beliefs on others. I will gladly share mine with anyone that asks or that is open for it. But I also will proclaim my beliefs given an opportunity and will walk away if someone does not want to listen. Debates usually are worthless since it's 2 or more people emotionally involved trying to prove who's right. No thanks. I respect others' beliefs, just do not have to agree, read about them or listen if I'm offended by them. For the most part tho, they get along. God bless

I think in real life, a lot of Christians and Atheists get along just fine. Here people seem to enjoy the "fight"...passes the day I guess hehehe
I'm not big on fighting, but I also don't leave the section to avoid it.

I think liberal and non-literalistic Christians can get along fine with atheists but fundy Christians are incapable of getting along with anyone and even mix with there own kind on a very superficial level. This is because their whole worldview is so superficial, simplistic, shallow and judgemental - they are incapable of dealing with anyone else in a meaningful way. Much of this comes from a lack of genuine empathy. We should not - however dump the vast majority of decent Christians into that boat- as I'm only talking about Fundies!!!

I see no reason for them to not get along. I do not argue, and if the christian starts proselytizing, I simply state that I really don't care to hear their religious philosophy. And I don't belabor their tympanic membranes with my belief system. There are many interesting conversation topics. I enjoy learning about different plants, and animals, and movies, and stores. Anything except religion, politics, and gender role expectations.

Christians try to get along with everyone.Atheist seem to think that Christians are punching bags, but they are not. There are many Atheist on this site who say that Christians cram religion down their throats. So why are they on this site?Because they are not only Atheist they are also hypocrites?I am not a homosexual and you will not see me on the ir site.If they want to be that way thats their business.I am not going to go over to their site and start bashing them.If they come over to this site then they should expect to here the truth about what the Bible says.

Sure, we can. Generally not on YA.
In real life, I have a 'live and let live' policy of interaction.
Not that there are no problems. It doesn't help that both of us are so passionate about the subject of religion or the lack thereof. But it also doesn't help when preachers like Tony Evans call atheists "children of satan" or bash the separation of church and state that keeps our freedoms intact. It's also bigoted to call atheists hedonistic, amoral, unpatriotic Americans.
