Because life is about learning, Good people have a heart that likes helping others, but in order to help others effectively, one needs experience...
So sometimes Bad things happen to good people for Good people to learn what it feels like ina bad situation, that when they encounter others who meet such a situation in the future, their help rendered would be heart felt and not just theoretical and intellectual
Bad things happen to Bad People, for them to see the light to willingtransform their hearts to be Good People...

God created humans to live forever and be ruled by him in a peaceful happy paradise. Satan told Eve that she did not need God to tell her what to do--she could rule herself. If God were to intervene rather than allow the consequences for Eve's and Adam's disobedience, he would be helping Satan prove a false acusation against the kind of person he is. That would not be good because it would mean that people would continue disobeying and Angels would keep challenging God's right to rule over his creation. It must, instead, end with this instance so that God can get on with his plan to make us live forever and be happy in beautiful surroundings. God can undo all the bad effects of sin (like death and disease) and he will do that but not until this issue has been fully settled. I am so sorry that you miss your friend and are sad without her but she will be resurrected and when she is, will you be there to greet here?

God is great and He is so great that He wants us to come to Him, and sometimes it's through bad experiences, but those bad things is what makes us realize that He is in control and that we are only human. God doesnt throw bad things at us just to see us suffer.
For some biblical refference the following part i took from the website http://www.gotquestions.org/bad-things-good-people.html
"The book of Job deals with this issue. God had allowed Satan to do everything he wanted to Job except kill him. What was Job’s reaction? “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him” (Job 13:15). “The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised” (Job 1:21). Job didn’t understand why God had allowed the things He did, but he knew that God was good and therefore continued to trust in Him. Ultimately, that should be our reaction as well. God is good, just, loving, and merciful. Often things happen to us that we simply cannot understand. However, instead of doubting God's goodness, our reaction should be to trust Him. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6)."

Loving help of GOD
The loving help of eYshua might be a bit more complex than we realize. If we are indeed responsible in some way for our own reality then the help we seek is understanding of how things work. Therefore eYshua does not control our individual reality but teaches us how to do it. Much like a parent might teach a child to drive a car. In an emergency the parent may grab the wheel to prevent disaster but for the most part the child must learn to drive independently. Also occasionally accidents happen. While we choose to believe our reality is under complete divine control we may end up in the ditch from time to time because of our own mistakes and or sins

You question has several assumptions - that good people are in fact good people and that a good god would be one that would not allow anything bad to happen. You also assume that nothing bad ever happens to bad people or nothing good ever happens to good people.
God says that the rain falls on the good and the bad. We live in a sinful world and live with the results of sin (turning against God).God has a plan of salvation to end this misery but for now we are still in it.

No one can realize all the consequences of an event. According to quantam physics and (according to me) to common sense, by just existing you change the world. You will never see the complete side effects of anything. You will never know how the movement of atom 1 hit atom 2 which hit atom 3 and did this which eventually led to there being a storm on some day in the future which led to some special meeting or something better happening to someone else. This future event would never have happened if there hadn't been something to cause it.

Think about that question...I'm mean really think about. Why is God to blame? after all we allow things to happen to us everyday that we don't have to be subjected to. Its our free will to choose. We really do have everything before us and established from heaven because of the power of the cross and we just don't get it!! we have that ability to pray, cover our selves & loved ones.. stand on Gods never changing word, and to effectively conquer every lie ever told to us by satan..and were still stuck on why does this happen. Some things are beyond our comprehension and we just have to leave it at that , but we can at any time choose to accept the solid truth!! After all tell me this? do we as Americans really ask God into every single aspect of our lives? if we did.... this question would be gathering dust!

your question is a good one, but somewhat immature in nature. people have choices. and no one is entirely good. the world sucks. and we live in it.
think of it like this. does a good parent give their kid everything it wants? does the parent ever hold out what the child thinks it needs or wants, even though the child thinks it would make their life complete? does a parent discipline the child even when the child thinks its right?
i'll admitt, i don't know why crap happens to me sometimes. but i also know that i'm a better person and alot stronger person because of some of the crap i've had to go through.
and one lesson i've learned in the past year is that sometimes i go through crap, and it's has little to do with me. sometimes it's for the benifit of someone else.
but ultimatly, i don't know why. it just does. but God being good, doesn 't mean He's irresponsible. He knows when we need a kick in the a s s and when we need a hug. the test is trying to learn which is which, and being thankful reguardless.
good question and good luck on figuring it out.

think this has been asked already once could be even twice. and my answer is always the same. bad things happen to all of us, good things happens to all of us, it is apart of each of our lives..It is a harsh way of saying it but its a fact, the good and the bad happens and it is not just to one or 2 it is to all us us, and it isn't cause were good or bad, it is just a part of lives.
