I'm certain that this is unusual, as kittens aren't supposed to open their eyes for the first 2 weeks. Should I be worried? They are only 5 days old. 2 of the 4 kittens have their eyes open and respond to visual stimulus. The other two are starting to open their eyes. Again, they are only 5 days old.

3 of the 4 now have their eyes open. They are all very active kittens.

I raised 4 feral kittens from the age of 2 days, so I know a little about them. It is not unusual for their eyes to open at 5 days old. The 2 week rule is a wives tale. Nature does as it will, when it will. Nothing to be concerned about here. Sounds like you've got a healthy litter! Now, quit worrying and go enjoy them!

That is rather early for eyes to be opening. My vet explained to me anywhere between 10 to maybe 14 days they start opening their eyes. I don't know if it's something to be concerned about but you can always ask your vet to be sure. I had a kitten once who was a day old and blind still and took a few steps, which is rather odd. Every cat is different.

Good luck!

It's perfectly normal for their eyes to be open at 5-7 days. As long as they are eating (nursing or bottle) peeing and pooping (They need help with this) they are doing fine. If they are with their mother and she is nursing them and keeping them clean, licking their bottoms etc. you have nothing to worry about. Except coming up with 4 names and finding homes for them in a couple of months. Good luck.
