I'm new to this but there seems to be alot of animosity toward christians. I think it is a waste of time to argue points about a bible you have no interest in whatsoever

I ask because I want to understand. I'm one of those people that actually likes to learn about other people's beliefs, whether I agree or not.

Asking is not the same as arguing.

Well you got to give this that New Testament is kind of self contradictory on occassions. These contradictions make people think that whole concept of One God is wrong. They do not realize that if Bible has some self contradictions then this may be a human fault and not God's? After all Bible was written 30 or perhaps 90 years after Jesus departure. And people kept writing it for next 300 years. Things got to be changed or misinterpreted in such a long time. Who can remember whole book after such a long time? By the way I believe in one God and I am not Atheist.

Yes there is alot of animosity between Christians and Atheists mostly. But you are incorrect when you talk about how Atheists have no interest in the Bible. In fact many Atheists know the contradictions made in the Bible and it's logical fallacies. Atheists DO care about religion because it stops them (and alot of others) from doing things they want to do in a suppossed "free" country. Think about that.

Why would Christians spend so much time trying to brainwash others when they know others would not care?

By the way, this is an open forum, not a Christians meeting point. Everyone has the right to ask questions, even of other faith.

You would see christians asking question like "Why buddhist believed in a person who shrink from his responsibility leaving his wife and child behind?" or "Why Muslims believed in the devil" Why would a christian even care? Why belittle others when you have no interest in whatsoever? Why the hypocritical comment when you do such things as a christian?

Yes, you are so accurate. Christians have been targeted from the beginning of Christianity. Pagans, Agnostics and Atheists do all they can to try to turn Believers towards them. We call it , satan on a rampage. This is predicted in the Holy Bible. The Anti-Christ spreads through out the world. We need to stand strong and defend our Christians. Onward Christian Soldiers. Good prevails over evil, and all the Christians need to stand strong and fight against this evil propaganda. God Bless the Christians.

some atheists feel it is their duty to inform the ignorant christian that he is worshipping a false god...me, i gave up on that a long time ago when i learned that one cannot simply override a lifetime of programming with logic or reason where christians are involved because that religion is especially adept at installing an unhealthy suspicion of these things. now, i just answer a question like yours with the hope that one person out there who is coming to the realization about the truth of religion on his/her own will see my comments and attitude as illustrative of the doubts they have swirling around them and take the final step toward liberation from that ignorance...perhaps you'll be that one?

I've been there, done that, but if a so-call "christian" asks a question & hasn't read the bible except for the few passages they've been fed, I feel inclined to respond. I've read the entire book as well as most of other versions. I don't ask them anything, because they can't respond.

I ask questions either because I really am curious about the answer, or because I'm trying to get the answerer to think from a different perspective.

I am sort of forced to have an interest in the bible, because people are trying to force me to follow laws based on this book that I don't believe in,

Its my time and I'll waste in whatever why I see fit, but some Atheists do sincerely like debating with Christians for whatever reasons

Please take some time and read through some of the answered questions in this forum. As an atheist, I am quite concerned as to how the theists act in society as they tend to be the majority of people in the U.S. In fact, the Constitution guarantees the separation of Church and State, yet the President seems to believe he can use his religion to justify all kinds of things.

Many of us are atheists BECAUSE we've read the bible. Often, it seems, we know more about what's in there than the theists.
