They say the name Jezebel, comes from 'Jazzy Belle. Another name comes from the ancients I like the Jazzy Bells that hung out in the swanky places in the south where, even then girls just wanted to have fun. In my mind a Jezebel is a woman who knows what she wants to do, then does it regardless to what anyone else thinks. I think a Jezebel is a woman who marches to the beat of a different drummer. Why should a girl have to be a harlot or a whore, when we all really want the same things to different degrees on the same spectrum.

The bible puts a lot of emphasis on a good name. The Jezebel of the old testament conspired against God's Prophets, and therefore, gives the name a bad reputation. On life-changing occasions, God chose to give a new name to some of His servants, as in Abram became Abraham, Sarai became Sara, and even in the New Testament Saul became Paul. I am glad I did not chose that name [Jezebel]for one of my daughters in my crazy hippie days.

Alot of ideas that have negative conotations!!! But, for other sit may just be a name. It depnds on how you associate it based on what you've learned about Jezebel as well as the historical use of it during slavery or what not. Interesting question though!! Jezebel also means struggle to me because she went through alot and had it rough.

Bad thoughts because my friend's little sister's name was Jezebel (I don't know how it was spelled.) She was a wonderful ball of energy but she died when she was 5 from cancer. Even in the hospital though nothing held her back. She was on GO until the very end. I miss her, she would be starting high school this upcoming year.

A painted harlot. Look up the Bible stories about her. She was an adulterous woman of easy virtue who brought down a kingdom to satisfy her lusts.

She tried to seduce the new king, and was thrown from the city gates for her trouble.

If you name a child Jezebel, be prepared for her to face a LOT of young men expecting it to be easy to get into her pants. You'd be setting her up to be a pregnant teenager, and if she's raped, no one will take her seriously because, consciously or not, they'll just ASSUME she's a hussy who asked for it.

Jezebel was a wicked queen married to king Ahab, worshiper of Baal, and killer of Gods profets. the name isn't bad, though it's dictionary definition is a wicked, shameless woman, it's the woman from the bible that most christians automatically think of that give the name a bad rep.
