Paul also said "I die daily". Shall we all kill ourselves based on a single scripture? I think not. Show me a series of scriptures throughout the bible that teach a doctrine of baptism for the dead and I'll be on board.

1 Cor 15-29
Otherwise what shall they who are baptised for the dead do? If the dead are actually not raised, why then are they baptised for them?
In context.. this whole chapter 15 deals with the matter of resurrection
Declairing Christ's Resurrection vs 1-4
Witnesses seeing Christ in His resurrected state 5-11
Rebuttal to " No Resurrection" 12-19
History of Resurrection 20-28
The Moral influence of Resurrection 29-34
The Defination of Resurrection 35-49
-the Body of Resurrection
-a Spiritual Body
The Victory of Resurrection 50-58
-incorruption over corruption
-life over death
Regarding verse 29
This should not have been an official matter practiced by the early churches but a personal one practiced by some on behalf of dead persons for whom they were concerned, who may have believed in the Lord but not baptised before they died... They did this in the hope of the dead one being resurrected from the dead at the Lord's coming back, since in baptism .. resurrection is strongly signified. The Apostle Paul used what they did to confirm the truth of resurrection.. BUT this does NOT mean that he sanctioned some believers being baptised for the dead.
Those of the LDS movement have chosen to practice this and is NOT considered something that should be done in mainstream christianity.. A believer's baptism should be declared by them to God...not by proxy.

1 Corinthians 15: 29 mentions an ordinance that was in custom and accepted during the time of Christ. This ordinance of baptizing for the dead is still in force within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and is only performed in the holy temples of the Lord.

Some of the Corinthians had taken to the habit of being baptized for those who had died without baptism, several of these also denied the resurrection. Paul was asking them why they would do this if they didn't believe in the resurrection of the dead
