Sounds to me like this is your first tattoo.. A little scabbing is normal after the first or second week, as long as the whole thing isnt a scab, you should be ok... just pay extra attention to the amount of lotion you put.. the more the better, and some antibacterial cream will help prevent infection... i like to use A & D, which is a diaper rash ointment, but is truly effective and keeps it moist for 8 hours +... most artists recommend it as well as anyone who has ever used it... so the next time you get a tatt... use A & D, which can be found in any supermarket in the "baby" area.
The wrist is a very hard place to heal, and almost never comes out looking the way you want to. Also pay attention to your movement... the more you move the wrist, the longer it will take to heal...
By the way, A & D is an all in one treatment when used along side with Dial...

Part of the problem could be the lotion. Try using A&D ointment instead and stay away from the lotion while it's scabbed over. I had a tattoo get infected due to lotion. Wash it 3 times a day gently with antibacterial soap and use the A&
D. Don't let it dry out. If you don't see significant improvement in a couple of days, call your artist. Good luck and enjoy your new art!

I don't know what kind of lotion you're using but I've had better luck with the thicker stuff. Dr Bronner's Organic balm is made for tattoos. Also, if it's in the sun, you need sunscreen on it. I only had a scab on 1 of my tattoos (I have 4 fairly small ones) but it was scabbed for well over a month. I was pretty nervous about it but didn't want to go back to the same guy who did it cause I thought maybe what he told me to do with it was wrong. I swear, all tattoo artists seem to have their own ideas about the best way for them to heal. Anyway, it was fine eventually but it did take awhile. 2 minute update: I just read other people's answers and was surprised. My wrist one healed perfectly. It was an ankle one that caused my problem. (And my other ankle was already tattooed without any problems.)

My tattoo did the same thing. To get rid of the scab I used a body loofah and dial antibacterial soap to scrub off the dead skin and then put Tattoo Goo (www.tattoogoo.com) on it. It was amazing! When I got the skin off it looked like a whole different tattoo. Since you said it was no longer sore then you shouldn't have any problems exfoliating it. If that does not work then I would see your artist or doctor. Good Luck.

You know it was so wierd my boyfriend got his first tattoo 2 years ago and his scabbed for like a month, and it finnally feel off when his cat licked his tattoo area. the cat's tongue was all he needed. I know it sounds wierd but his scabs were thick and scarry and lasted long, it seemed as if it would never heal, but give it time some people's bodies take a longer healing proccess than others.

DO NOT OVERUSE LOTION especially while its healing it will cause more of the ink to come out. and this info comes straight from a tat artist that has been doin it for over 20 years. make sure you use lubriderm and vitamin d. what ever you do dont pick at it.

The scab will go, just don't pull it off it will fall off in it's own time. It sounds like you have a pretty good scab there.
