Christian baptism, according to the Bible, is an outward testimony of what has occurred inwardly in a believer’s life. Christian baptism illustrates a believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. The Bible declares, “Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life” (Romans 6:3-4 NIV). In Christian baptism, the action of being immersed in the water pictures being buried with Christ. The action of coming out of the water pictures Christ’s resurrection.

In Christian baptism, there should be two requirements before a person is baptized: (1) the person being baptized must have trusted in Jesus Christ as Savior, and (2) the person must understand what baptism signifies. If a person knows the Lord Jesus as Savior, understands that Christian baptism is a step of obedience in publicly proclaiming his faith in Christ, and desires to be baptized – then there is no reason to prevent the believer from being baptized. According to the Bible, Christian baptism is simply a step of obedience, a public proclamation of one’s faith in Christ alone for salvation. Christian baptism is important because it is a step of obedience – publicly declaring faith in Christ and commitment to Him, and identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.

You are not a Christian unless baptized by someone using water saying the words I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Ghost).

Once baptized that way, you can never be baptized again. The ceremony may take place again at another time but the sacrament itself can never be accomplished again.

This means that once baptized, a person is changed body, mind and soul into the body of Jesus Christ. This cannot be undone or redone.

Yours, Grace

Baptism is essential to salvation as recorded in the Bible. Whoever said that baptism unnecessary is totally un-scriptural! Jesus said that if we were not baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and have not received the Holy Ghost, we will not see the kingdom of heaven. When you convert to Christianity, I would suggest you get baptized (in Jesus' name) immediately, if not sooner. Hope this helps!

Do you need too? For any good solid Christian church membership you would need to. They would let you of course come to church without being a member.

You should be baptized because Jesus commanded us too. If we really are Christians there should be no reason why we would disobey a command of God that is made clear.

i don't want you to feel forced. the answer to the question depends on you. that is, if we are talking about the case of water baptism. i have friends who did not go through that anymore because they have been baptized in water before. water baptism is a public declaration that you are a Christian now. it is a symbol something powerful that happens inside of you...

now i am talking about holy spirit baptism,.. it is true that you can be baptized in water without having internal change- that is, without the holy spirit in your life. it is impossible to live a Christian life without the help of the holy spirit. so go on, be baptized in the spirit. it will change you. water baptism follows.",)

When you become a christain the church doesn't judge you if you haven't been baptized yet. yes they want you to get baptized, because it is a spiritual ritual that really shows your devotion and love toward God. they want you to get baptized as soon as possible, but they dont' want to push you. God has a plan for you when he wants you to get bapptized and that time will come when he wants. hope you recieve it very soon because it is an amzing thing to feel.

You should be baptized in water as a public display of your faith. Water baptism symbolizes Christ's death and resurrection.

However, it is not necessary for salvation. One of the thieves on the cross with Jesus was never baptized, yet Jesus said that they would both be together in paradise.

If you truly believe why not baptize. Surrender yourself to God, true christians are those who set themseves apart from this corrupt world full of sins. Jesus said, go preach to the nonbelievers, baptized them and teach them about the laws.

One is not a christian until AFTER they have been baptized FOR the remission (removal) of their sins. Until they are baptized they are still in their sins. Being baptized isnt an option...it is a necessity.

It is not a work of MERIT when one OBEYS the commands of God...

to HEAR the word of God,

BELIEVE the word of God,

REPENT,
CONFESS Christ,
or even be BAPTIZED are not works in an attempt to MERITT salvation..

no..

they are works of OBEDIENCE to the COMMANDS of God.

Yes it is DEFINATELY the blood of Christ that cleanse us of our sins (1Jn.1:7).

We have redemption through His blood (Eph.1:7), NO doubt.

Yet there is still the very pertinent question to be asked.

WHERE do we reach, come in contact with that blood?

The answer is Rom. 6:3-4.

NOTICE the words WERE baptized INTO Christ HAVE BEEN baptized INTO His death.

Not WILL BE.

Baptism puts one INTO Christ (Rom. 6:3),

INTO His death(6:4)

INTO the church (Acts 2:38-47),

BURIED WITH Christ IN baptism, & raised WITH Him by faith (Col. 2:12) of the operation of GOD (not before baptism)

The person being baptized is doing nothing more than submitting to having it done to them.

Submitting to the COMMAND of Christ in Mark 16:16 and other scriptures.

It isnt a work of meritt of the one being baptized but rather an act of obedience to Christ's command.

There is no condemnation to those who are IN Christ (Romans 8:1).....

if any man be IN Christ, he is a NEW creature (2 Cor. 5:17)...

HOW does one get IN Christ?? (Galatians 3:27)..

We are put IN Christ when we are baptized (Rom. 6:3-5)..

We PUT ON Christ when we are baptized (Gal. 3:27).

The PURPOSE of Baptism is for remission of sins (Acts 2:38)..

Wash away sins (Acts 22:16)..

Get INTO Christ (Rom. 6:3)..

PUT ON Christ (Gal. 3:26-27)..

to be saved (Mark 16:16)..

to enter the Kingdom (John 3:5)..

Get into the DEATH of Christ where his BLOOD was shed (Rom. 6:3)

Ephesians 4:5 says we have ONE baptism...and...the Eunuch is our example of that ONE baptism

I hope that these scriptures help you understand the necessity of baptism....it is not an option.

Romans 16:16

:o) Have a great tomorrow !
