The Army does look for its lost. They are called MIA and search parties are mounted to a reasonable extent. If someone is FTR, failure to report or AWOL, the Army will search for them like an other missing person's case. If there is a deserter who goes AWOL, the Army's won't necessarily go out of its way to arrest him and bring him back, however, that guy will be tagged for the rest of his life. There have been people who have gone AWOL decades ago and then their social or whatever pops up in a job interview and they are busted. They'll get caught eventually.

The Army does not look for AWOL (Absent With Out Leave) Soldiers (only the Air Force actively tracks down AWOLs)
The Army Puts out a warrant for their arrest, eventually they get pulled over, have a record check when they try to rent an apartment, or try to get a form of ID renewed. Don't worry we get our man.

because it is not cost effective to do so. However, this AWOL/Deserter WILL eventually be caught, possibly by something as simple as a traffic stop, and then the Army will come after them.. int heir own sweet time, and he gets to rot in jail until then.

They do...
They dont go out to their moms house to llok for them...but all deserters are entered into NCIC as AWOL.
All it takes is getting stopped for speeding, and the cops run their info
The Army will go anyplace to get them.

You are misinformed. Local law enforcement has a list of all deserters. I am not sure what you mean by lost.
