It isn't paint. It actually tans your skin 'like' the sun does. This takes usually about a day to get a spotless result. If you Wash. bathe or shower before that there may be some spots that don't get enough attention so to speak.

After that it will stay on like the real thing and is absolutely waterproof.

I believe they tell you not to shower for a day when you get it, but then after that it should be good. Just ask the people where you get it, they will know for sure.

most sunless tans require you to wait for a specified period of time before bathing or swimming. after that time frame passes they hold pretty well. but things like pool chlorine could affect them.
