False. "Tone" refers to the depth of colour ( ie : "light" brown or "deep" brown ) as well as refering to another hue you may find coming out in a colour ( ie: "reddish" brown, or "blue"green )
The term "tone on tone"is often used to describe the use of one colour in a space, but in different degrees of light to dark for detail and accent ( ie: light grey walls with a medium grey accent wall and charcoal grey trim)

false....
adding brown to something will only make it brown...
white to lighten, gray/black to darken...
(brown is red and green mixed...)
Red, blue, yellow primary colors, add each of the others to make secondary and terciary colors. red+blue= purple, blue+yellow = green
yellow+red = orange.
(usually home, paint and hobby stores have color wheels...they may have one online you can print out...www.google.com)
