most will not. they will approach the officer and talk with them.internal affairs is not a place you want to go and lie for a buddy.you will lose you job for doing so.i was not going to lie and lose my job for anyone.it bothers you to do such a thing but it is something that tests your character and honesty.there is no such thing as a blue wall. people confuse this with the dept telling officers they are not allowed to discuss anything.i am a retired veteran with 25 years

Depends on WHERE and WHEN the alleged incident occurred. Were you REALLY there and did you participate?
Hey, I have nothing for rats--espicially career ambitious ones, who snitch out a colleague so they can gain a promotion. But you got to look at this matter in a logistic posture.
Logic prevails that a smart rat will NOT put himself or his property in a vulnerable position. A smart rat knowing this will place/park his car in a spot where SOME video coverage IS possible. And given THAT REAL possibility, you can bet Internal Affairs ( rat sheperds) may well have the rather revealing video.
Bottom line: if YOU were there and you HELPED, it's then given you MIGHT be on such a video. Integrity check time: do you make a discreet meeting w/ the Captain or let him come to you?
I'd go it like this, assuming I was involved: I know the Captain is an administrator--but he also IS a cop.....and cops HATE RATS. I might be wise to admit involvement in exchange for not asking me who else may be involved.
If you were there, it's best to do the right thing to lessen "the lick" you can expect happen. But remember--it's doing the right thing RIGHT that counts.

DON'T LIE because the captain may already know. No reason to get fired for somebody else's idiotic behavior.

You say I don't know anything. My father tells me stories of cops shooting other cops, you don't need that trouble. Better to live and possibly lose your job, then end up dead.

No it's called the blue wall of silence.
What was said about cops shooting other cops is true. It's like a mafia run cult.
The blue wall needs to be destroyed.
