That Americans are discreetly racist towards Mexican period?
Below are some comments that I've come across that people post about Mexicans, yes the issue is "ILLEGALS" BUT people also seem to say I can't tell if they are legal or not, so I just dont smile at Mexicans.
"I only stare because I am fed up with your ILLEGAL arses and cant stand you. I never smile at a Mexican because you never know if they are here legally or not."
"I stare and smile because I want to make sure my car doesn't get vandalized by you once I go into the store. I don't hate you, I don't trust you. If you broke the law coming into my country why should I trust you to follow the rest of the laws America has set up"
" I don't smile at them in the streets - never have. They are constantly staring me down and each time I say......"WTF are you staring at? Get your eyes off me!!" It happens almost daily"
If you don't have anything against Mexicans (legal), why not smile? You CAN'T tell who is, who isnt!

if it were European whites crossing the border it wouldn't be an issue. Maybe that is not fair to say but I think it is true .
I think many Americans think of Mexicans as a second class person because of the poverty , different values and lets face it...
their brown skin.
If Canadians were crossing over I really doubt there would be a probllem but it is Mexicans and that makes a difference.
I'm not taking sides, I'm just pointing out what I truly think is a fact .

Its ignorance, when people talk about illegal aliens they straight away think they are all broke mexicans running accross a border raping and robbing.
Illegal immigrants are made up of millions of people from all over the world the majority enter legaly and become overstays because of long delays on processing, 12-13 million illegals in America actually have a legal right to be here but a wait period outside the country for 20-25 years is simply inhumane and forces them to stay or come back when old.
I have 3 generation American family parents grandfathers cousins etc here I was born in UK I have waited so far 17 years for my papers to be processed as a son of an American and I have another 7 more possible years to go before my paper is approves at which point I will be subject to a 10 year ban and then a repeat wait of 20 odd years so that is why I stay illegal, I just dont think I want to be stuck outside the country away from family for 50 odd years..

I don't like to be racist, but where I am from, most of them are illegal. And they do not speak a bit of english. And everytime I walk by them they say something obviously inappropriate in spanish. They also are very disrespectful. I'm not doggin on all mexicans, but if you only knew the ones around here. And for the girl down below who said we are all rapists, killers, etc. you need to do some more research you are oblviously the ignorant one of you own race. Every race has killers, etc.....why dont you take a look at the most wanted list and see what pops up the most eh?

The answers you quoted speak for the speakers opinion.Not all Americans as a whole.I am a white American citizen and you won't find that in my comments.Please don't show prejudice towards me for a few.This would only make you as ignorant as the posts you have used as an example.Prejudice is Prejudice no matter who speaks it.

Oh get a life & stick to the subject... People are not against Mexicans... American citizens are clearly against "illegal" Mexicans, amongst all other illegal aliens. Even Mexican-Americans are against "illegal" Mexicans. This country belongs to Mexicans who are citizens of the U.S. also & we totally appreciate that. So... Stop playing the race card!!!
This is not a racial issue... It is an "illegal" immigration issue! Illegal = illegal... Get it straight!!!

They are staring me down in a sexual way, and a sexual way ONLY - not to be friendly. I am not attracted to Hispanic men. I like White men. That is my preference, and I am entitled to my own personal preference. If I don't want them staring at me, that's my business and it shouldn't offend anyone. And you say that Americans are discreetly racist towards Mexicans....well...maybe. But you don't think they are racist towards us as well? If you watched their protests, you should know. They haven't hidden their racism one bit!

I don't think it.. I KNOW it. When you have your girls hanging out of your shirt even on the Internet are you not asking men (any man) to stare, or are you wanting only a select few to look?? I don't think most people are like the group here. Most of us know that criminals come in all colors and also know you can't tell who has committed a crime and who hasn't by looking at them. We women know men are men and they are gonna look.. that's what they are supposed to do. (unless its my man and I will twist his ears off!)
