Depends on the type of Christianity, really. Catholics, for instance, don't allow women to be priests. They are not equal members of society (though Mary has it pretty well off). Sure, the Vatican *says* that they are, but actions speak louder than words.

If you're looking for a Biblical answer, then women are pretty much nothing. There are passages in the Bible where women are abused - in one, a man offers up his daughters to be raped to prevent harm to himself/his *male* guests, and this man is praised for it. Indeed, women aren't much in Christianity.

There is no single position. Most Christian groups say they value women, but when you get right down to it, a lot of churches are still closed to women in roles of leadership. A lot of churches still teach that "man is the head of the wife," and "wives need to be submissive to their husbands."

man was also commanded to put their wives before them. Women have their place and it is of great respect and honor. Some men on the other hand do not live up to what God intended for them to be. So some women are raised up by God and appointed to do what needs to be done also. Joyce Meyer is awesome and right on the money.

Same rights, different positions.

Simple example... You have a house. The roof keeps the walls dry, the walls hold the roof up. Neither is better than the other, but both have seperate purposes. Sure, a person walks through the door first to enter the house, but that person is able to reach the attic as well.

Christian women will NEVER have full & equal rights so long as the Christian church still considers the chauvinistic rants of Paul (AKA Saul the woman-hating murderer) to be divine instructions.

Yes - husbands are the head of the family, Yes a women can not be a church elder/pastor, Yes - there is a difference in role and rank but NOT in worth.

Both men and women are made in the image of God. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. (Galatians 6:3)

In Ge 2:24, we also read that they are one flesh in marriage
and that his body belongs to her and her body belongs to
him.

In Mal 2:14 she is called his companion, and the wife of thy
covenant. She is a companion, not a door mat!

In Mr 12:43 we read of a women, that glorified God more
then all the men with their mighty wealth. Showing that God
does not look at your gender when it comes to good works.

The man is to love His wife, like Christ loves the church. This means a husband should be ready and willing to lay down his life for her. (Eph 5:33).

It's imporant for women to learn and study the Bible (John
4:14ff, Luke 10:40-42)

All you have to do is look in Genesis.

When God made Eve, He did not take the bone from Adams head, so that she would dominate him, nor did He take it from his foot so that he could step all over her.

He took it from his rib...that they could be equals..help mates.

Jesus was friends with both men and women (even those most looked down upon).

God made us equal..no matter what sex or color, race or creed

Most christians are 'cafeteria christians' who pick and choose which passages of the bible they follow.
If they are real christians, they follow the bible and do not believe in equal rights. They can't. That would go against their god.

Equal rights. The Bible says man and woman were both made in God's image. We're equal.

They are not given equal rights biblically. They are commanded to be submissive to their husbands and are considered unclean during menses, not allowed to enter temple.
