I spend the day changing diapers. Her butt is bleeding. The doctor tells me to add more fiber to her diet and reduce starches. I have done this and no improvement. Its been months and my baby is the same. Any moms out there with this problem please email me.

I have not had this problem but I would think the doctor could do something about it other than telling you to add more fiber. Maybe you should consult another doctor.

I take it you have already seen a doctor because you say the doctor advises you to change the baby's diet.
(Maybe a second opinion, or go see your gp again.)
If the babies bum is very sore I would put some Calmoseptine cream on it and leave the nappy off where possible eg. while sleeping, or lay a blanket down put a towel under the baby this will help clear the soreness up.

Absolutely, get that baby to another physician. I am the mother of two grown children and 3.5 grandchildren. It is NOT normal at all. To begin with, you're going to have to stop the pooping, first. Then, and only then, can you ease the pain of the open sores and clear up the butt. Good Luck. I'm serious about another phyician. Do it quickly. That baby is in terrible pain with that situation.

I dont think its normal!! Are you giving her alot of juices? I would take to a stomach doctor or something to check it out. About the diaper rash use corn starch and a thick paste of butt balm (available in most drug stores) Hope she feels better.

I would take her to a different dr. if they aren't doing anything other than that. Poor baby. I have never heard of a baby doing that. Cover her butt in A & D ointment, not the cream though. I think that it helps for rashes good, it does on my 17 month old boy. Good luck on finding a treatment.

If her stools are loose you may want to check if she is lactose intolerant. I had this problem with my son and didn't know it was abnormal until my mother (who is a nurse) told me about it. We had a really hard time getting it diagnosed.

Nobody suggested it or told me what to do until I got a pediatricial who is lactose intolerant herself. She told me 'just start him on the lactose free milk and see what happens' Sure enough - that was the issue.

It is something to consider4

1] Is she on breast or bottle? She could be allergic to dairy or something you are eating. Formula or whole milk?
2] does she react to wheat products?
3] try an elimination diet. [ look it up under elimination diet ]
You remove most frequent allergens from baby and your diet if nursing.
My older son could not drink whole milk because it gave him diarrhea; my younger did just fine.
