ER docs have to be prepared to take care of anything that walks or is wheeled in through the hospital doors.... heart attacks, strokes, gunshot wounds, sore throats, foreign bodies in unusual places, lacerations, broken bones... you name it.
Many ER docs are trained just for that purpose. They go through 4 years of medical school like every other doctor, and then do a residency (3 years, I think).
Salaries vary by location practice type and many other factors.

he saves lives in an emergency situation,,he saved mine ,,,,thank God he was there........they are qualified doctors,,generally from other practices,,they usually rotate er duties....
