My school is a very tough private high school in the US and I was told that that my school uses a different GPA scale. For example:

If a student gets an 85% in English class then when calculating his/her GPA it will be counted as 3.0, but in my school it will automatically be counted as a 3.5 instead of a 3.0.

What I'm asking is if this is correct and not something false someone at school told me. Do some prestigious private high schools use a different GPA system?

It does not sound as if your school is any different than most. 85% is about a 3.5 in most places. A 3.0 would be around 80%. If your school uses a 4 point system, they are using the same system most schools use to determine G.P.A. or grade point average. In a 4 point system, you recieve grade points according to your letter grade. An A recieves 4 points, a B recieves 3, a C recieves 2 and a D recieves 1 point. There are decimal indicators that reflect D+, C+, and B+. The + is usually halfway between the lower and the higher grade.

each and each scientific college calculate their GPA's in a distinctive way. It does not even rely if it incredibly is scientific college it additionally happens in dental college and pharmacy too. each so often they are going to downgrade your mark in case you have been from yet another college. i comprehend Canadian scientific colleges will decrease all your GPA's to the backside grade in that score. So if for Ex. that A=ninety% and you get ninety 4% and A+ is 95% then will drop your mark to an A fairly of A+ they are going to take the mark that preceded it. It sucks so it incredibly is each so often harder to get right into a college than others. different colleges could be distinctive they have a distinctive grading device and how they formulate your marks. yet do no longer problem approximately it, you could no longer rigidity out approximately that. confirm you get a fabulous mark on your MCAT. I tremendously confident they take that into attention extra so than your GPA and likewise your resume, etc.
