You hear about them, you see them dancing in the street. You may have even chatted. So what do you find the most strange, interesting or funny thing about them?

I am an aspiring devotee and the most interesting about it is -well -like Quackers said-its like the Jeasus story a lot- the master (my master) who started the movement in 1964 (I joined him in 69) came over on a barge-type boat ment for cargo with only 40 rupies to his name (1 dollar) at the ripe age of about 70 something--He was child-like in innocence and yet a lion in spiritual knowledge-- He saw America for the first time and when he saw the snow everywhere he thought they had white-washed the entire city! He was charming, pure-hearted- truthful- kind - and of course a genuine guru-(like Jeasus) he told us to not eat animals-not take intoxication-or have sex outside of marrage- and to chant Hare Krsna- which means - Oh God -please engage me in your service- To make a long story short he did all this on the order of his spirtual master who told him that Lord Caitanya wanted to spread the rare teachings throughout the whole world--because He loves everyone-not just the high born priests and bramanas of India or of any land - often he would be forced into heated debates by such bramin priests who didn't think meat-eaters and outsiders should be allowed into the truths of the Vedic religion and he would stand up for us and say that these American and European boys and girls are very sincear and its not about where you are born or where you come from-its about sincearity .He was really the one behind the original vegetarian movement--one time someone came into his room and cleaned all the spiders out--he was upset and said they weren't harming anyone and everyone has a right to live-he taught us that serving God is fun- dancing with our arms up in the air-chanting Gods beautiful names and feasting on really good food (non-meat since God doesnt eat meat and we offer it first to Him)
Thats what I think is most interesting about it -the pure devotees who start the movements are the ones who really change the world--allthough we try to hang on to the master after he leaves this world - things happen-bad people take over- greed- politics etc. I really dislike politics --any way he said there is always a pure devotee on the planet somewhere- and if we are sincear we will find that real guru--Instead of going into a longer story of my life check out purebhakti.com - if you feel lucky! love- to you all for your really sweet comments!

Actually, I know almost nothing about them. I have, however, seen a model of some significant interest that they use sometimes. It shows a birth-death-rebirth cycle depicted as a sort of closed time loop. As if to suggest that it is not so much reincarnation they believe in, as reruns. Deja vu all over again, as it were. I'd love to hear what someone from within the organization has to say about that model.

well, I am a hare Krsna. a really interesting thing about us is that, no matter how many questions and doubts i come up with, all are completely answered and it puts my mind to rest. its not about blind faith. I also like how we see a big picture, with all paths in the world, how we're getting purified here, and where all our dif paths lead us....

I think The absolute funnest thing is singing and dancing in the street, or in the temple.. if you haven't tried it, you absolutely have to. I have also material experience in the world and there is nothing like- it nothing at all in the world. Another thing that has no comparison in this world are Krsna and His Pure devotees! They are soooooo attractive.. pure devotee's aura's are so bright and effulgent, even regular devotees who are full of faults but trying have bright auras. You could be like full of sadness and doubts, and just as soon as you come into the presence of a pure devotee, you can't even remember what you were so down about- real connection with God... it really makes me want to become pure myself, and i'm gettin purified...
another thing is it's all pretty fun, and allows us all with our different talents to serve in any capacity at all..

oh and auntb, the picture that you describe is showing how we are in the cycle of birth and death- we are actually taking new births with different bodies etc., the circular part of it shows how we can be going on and on and on in this cycle of birth and death unless we do something to end it. otherwise we'll continue to make new karma and have to suffer and enjoy it out in this life and future lives... as u sow so shall u reap type of thing. The thing is, we don't know if we will be born in human form again, thus there is some urgency to take the rare opportunity of the human form of life, use your higher consciousness to pray and question, and learn, otherwise you may be lost in the 8 million plus species of life for another trillion years before u get human form and consciousness again....

God Bless all of you Hare Krsna, thanks for the nice question sweetbreez

My cat has done nothing to note. The most interesting thing she does is wake up to get food, meow, then go back to sleep

Their cookbooks. They were pushing some of their vegetarian recipes when I saw them once, and it looked like they had some interesting recipes.

I would probably serve it with a meat main dish, though, of course.

Their religion, like all others, is just superstition.

That they adhere to Hinduism, even though Indians will tell you that you cannot convert to Hinduism, you must be born into it.
