OK Creationists, another problem zinging your way with love.

Why does God make the Universe appear to be old if it really isn't?

Is it a trick? Does your God go out of his way to trick his own Creation?

I am not talking about carbon dating.

You seriously ought to stop posting here and go study harder for your science classes. Anyone who thinks the age of the Universe or the planet is determiend through carbon dating is not qualified to discuss religion or science seriously and is only making a mockery of their own education.

You are mush wiser that I am I have no idea when God began His creation. I have always thought it was a VERY long time ago. Then again since He is omnipresent it was just this morning to Him. So how old is it by our observation that is.. If you can put a date on it you are wiser than 99.99999% of those men that have been studying this process all their lives.. The Genesis story is a small outline of all that God did in creation. I don't believe personally that He is done yet. For this small patch of creation, I believe He is, but there is a lot more out there we don't even know exists yet.. After all He is God and can do with creation what He wills... Jim

It's a good Q, but one, you must recognize, merely 'situated'.
That is, it is only pertinent for this minute period of earth's history.
I guess you could say there are signs that He has also given in the earth and Heavens that if you read your scriptures, you would see that they are clearly being fulfilled - slowly and surely, 'every whit', as the Lord Himself says.

So, He hasbn't left us 'without' in these challenging times; we have both - our advantages compared with other times, and our disadvantages - like anything at all to do with this earth life, and compoundingly so, since the day Adam partook of the forbidden fruit.

By the Way, there is a book, TWO BIRDS ... ONE STONE!... by Denis Towers [I got my copy through Xulonpress.com] which explains all these things.

Also, more specifically to your Q, we now have the advantage of a living prophet today [see www.lds.org] - which we didn't have 200 years ago. So, even here, God has been merciful in these Last Days, and given us all we need in these temptations of Cofusion and much "theory" out there today.
If you want more on your Q per se - that is, why it seems that millions of years have passed since life was [supposedly] formed, send your real email to mine to: drcity007ATyDOTc
and I will give you some genuinely new material on it.

Scientists have themselves found that fossils come about and changes occur on this earth a lot faster than previously thought.
The Israel nation, who had first written alphabet and who were chosen by God to bring us His Word, have said that the earth is 6,000 years old-so what can I add to that?
I have one statement-In the scientific world, a theory must be disproven before another theory can be established-according to my Microbiology teacher in College. Scientists are discovering daily evidence that the Creation Theory is correct in more and more areas- so, the evolutionist theory has to stand way back at the end of the line. The Lord said He hung the universe in space- Now scientists have the String Theory of bands of energy or whatever, so God was telling the truth- its swings like it was HUNG!
It helps' to know that God made everything AFTER THEIR OWN KIND- there are all types of dogs, but they are still dogs. Monkeys do not have an opposing thumb to grasp as man does, so they are one kind, and we, who've been made in the image of God, with His measurements like the arm and hand span and have a spirit as well as a soul are another kind.
Before they made houses, after the Fall, when the weather and earth turned hostile- and when after the rain started with the destruction of the world by water- people may have lived in caves; but being probably homeless and outcasts that looked funny- there were anomalies but still men, and probably could't afford burial. The industrious man always made themselves a dwelling.
They may have been caught in the flood! Faith accepts' The Lords' gift of Life in him, and then the Holy Spirit guides Him into all Truth (that is useful and expedient).
Mainly, don't get caught up in the vane sayings and philosophies of man- but learn from the Living God.
Jesus was the Word that spoke this all into existence of the Spirit of God's bidding. God is a spirit, who came down in human flesh to die as a man to take our punishment so that we are released from satan's hold on our mind and hearts- The man cannot be whole and think right wthout this Holy Spirit coming to live inside of him, which is what Jesus promised in John chapter 16. Do you know what you ask is true according to Him?

Gotta love the old "Carbon 14 dating doesn't work" nonsense. It is circulating as an urban legend, and the supposed examples keep changing, and all of the examples show that the people using this "argument" don't even know what Carbon 14 is or what radiometric dating involves.

Even if the earth really were millions or billions of years old, one could not say that it ‘looked old’—that one glance at rock layers and canyons just ‘shouted’, ‘Old Earth!’. To justify that statement, I don’t even have to get into sophisticated references to modern philosophers of science, who agree that no facts ‘speak for themselves’ anyway. All we need do is remember that some of the greatest minds that ever lived, the fathers of modern science—Newton, for example—looked at the same earth that we look at today, and did not ‘see’ millions of years. Just as the young carpenter, a truly independent thinker who had resisted the indoctrination of our age, did not ‘see’ the millions of years either.

The earth is only seen as ‘looking old’ because we all take unconscious belief systems to the evidence. In other words, it could be said that the earth looks neither old nor young—it all depends on the ‘belief glasses’ through which one is viewing (interpreting) the evidence. Or to put it another way, it is just as valid for me to say, looking at the world through the ‘lens’ of the Bible (rather than the humanistic, evolutionized lens of our culture), that it ‘looks young’ (i.e. thousands, not billions of years old).

because its what has already been created. Just our souls if you will are in the planet earth, and our orbiting the sun (our sun). We all have to start at some point right now, its just this is where we are now.

Gods and lifes 500 trillion earth years ago there must have been in this in this form that has transended to greater things for them.

We will get there also, if i haven't confused you yet.

If we, just regualar humans, could figure out the meaning and motive of the almighty being that we worship and praise, what kind of God would that be?

God, of course, had nothing to do with it. The earth looks old because it IS old.
