Suffering is a gift of God. I suggest reading the book of James. All things work together for good, even if not for you or in your lifetime. I may sound crazy, but it's true. Suffering is like wind. Scientists know from experiments that without wind, trees topple over from their own weight. They need wind to keep them strong. Sufferings strengthen you and build your character; without them you would die when asked what your credit card number was and actually had to think.

Suffering is not grace! Suffering is suffering. Grace is Love.
However, God's Grace is His Love and Mercy put in action or motion.
Remember Noah. Where God had already determined to destroy humanity and the animal kingdom? How the Bible says that Noah "found" grace in the eyes of the LORD.
Humanity and the animal kindgom is here today because of the grace of God. Just as Jesus is God's grace to mankind.
Because God's Grace, Walked through the Gates of Hell, Faced and Defeated Death, Ascended from that "Borrowed" Tomb (notice it was a borrowed tomb, he only needed it for a short time) while the stone was still sealing the entrance, and the Roman guards stood watch outside "Just and Exactly" to the letter, as he had said he would!
Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.

I hadn't thought of that!
Let's see:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/grace
Wow! There are all those definitions for "Grace"!
What do we do with that? Oh yeah, answer the question.
But first I want to make something clear, that "grace" in the Bible has to do with favor from God to defective humans. It is called grace because it has everything to do with a 'favor' which is not earned.
So with that out of the way, here we go with the definitions:
"1. elegance or beauty of form, manner, motion, or action. "
I could see that it does in that sense of the word if it is used figuratively. If one of these definitions can be applied accurately, then yes, it can have to do with suffering.

Suffering is getting through bad stuff happening to you. It would take a twisted mind to call real suffering a kind of grace. We might learn lessons having sufferred, but that doesn't make suffering a good thing. At most, it makes it only slightly less bad.
I think it is better to acknowledge a bad thing happening than to pretend it is not something bad.

If you are a human being and are old enough to turn on a computer, you have known suffering. It is a fact of life and it stems more from man than it does from any external source. God does not cause it...any more than he causes ALL good things to occur. Man plays a very big role in both.
As a person who knows God, He has not shown me that I have any reason to believe that He uses suffering to get to us...or to bless us. I know he cares for me and I know that when I ask him to help me deal with something that has happened, he has but I don't think it was a set up.

I see grace more as what brings us through suffering.

For one who sees God in everything and everywhere. his suffering is God's grace. But for one who is not concern about God, his suffering is punishment due to his sinful activities.

suffering is by choice, brought about by focusing on it, if you believe you have to suffer then you surly will, man is the master of his own destiny, what he thinks and says will become weather it be good or bad, but he will surly create it.
