He's 5 months old and my 4 year old I believe stomped on his foot. My son weighes about 45 pounds. My dog yelped for about 3 minutes afterwards but wont bare any weight on the foot now. He isnt yelping any longer and when I bend the leg he doesnt try to bite or yelp. He's laying down sleeping now. My question basically is do I take him to an emergency vet (which is very costly) or do I wait it out till morning to see if he gets better?? And if not better just take him to our vet??

Please don't give no meds esp tylenol dogs can can severe reaction including bleeding to death or it can damage their kidneys, I would say you can wait till morning and see if the pup is bearing weight and using the foot and decide whether a vet visit is in order then

Actually my friend had a chihuahua which did the same thing it yelped and yelped and wouldnt walk on it the rest of the day but the next day it was fine I think they are just scared to put it down so wait until tommoro and then if its still bothering your puppy take him to a vet

If the puppy is in pain, he should be seen RIGHT away.

I would at least place a call to your vet, a vet and see what they think- they would know best if this type of injury is a wait-n-see case or can wait till the next day.

Dogs can take a lot of pain. I've done this to my dogs and cats many times now. They're just like humans, it's probably just sore. Since your son doesn't weigh a lot, he's probably fine. If it doesn't get better, visit your local vet. I dont think its an emergency.

I dont think there is any reason to rush him to the emergency vet. Just wait until the morning, and keep an eye on him.

YOu dont say what kind of pup he is so I'd say you can probably wait until the morning. Dogs do hide their pain very well so I wouldn't hesitate about having him seen in the morning.

Also have a talk with your son about being nice to his doggie.
