Sure, Christianity was brought to Egypt by one of the 70 disciples and one of the 4 Bible writers St. Mark.

St. Mark came to Egypt during the Greek era in Egypt and spread the new religion into Alexandria then the church began which spread Christianity all over Egypt.

Egypt has many Coptic monuments from the Coptic era (when Egypt was a Christian country) specially that Egypt is the only country that Jesus himself visited while was a child and crossed it from the Delta in the north to Assiut in the south.

Yes, Christianity has roots in Egypt but only because it is a neighboring country to Jerusalem. Egypt invaded at one point and took the people as slaves. The people turned to something as a means of escape and religion was the only diversity they could turn to.
