Alvin and Simon say yes, however Theodore tells me you should use the phrase "It's for the children..." instead.

To be honest I think you would.
This is the sad state that our scientific community has come to because too many activists and not enough real scientists have too much power in giving out grants. There are countless stories I have seen about how if you don't agree with global warming you are blacklisted as a scientist.
Also many scientists will tell you that more and more of the grant money is being used on global warming study now instead of studying other areas of science.
There has been a state of fear created that has attempted to squash all dissent when it comes to disagreeing with the general global warming hypothesis.

The effects of urbanization. When humans move into an area with domesticated cats, the chipmunks tend to disappear. I have noticed this over a time of 25 years. I have a 2 yr degree in Biology and BS degrees in other areas. My emphasis in Biology is in Ecology.
Not only do chipmunks disappear but also the songbirds, native snakes and lizards as well.

Yes, and I suggest you study why there are no chipmunks living in the glaciers of Greenland where 1000 years ago it was warm enough for them to live. Global warming might make it possible for Greenland to be green again, and chipmunks would love it that way.

If I want to say that too much money is spent on research about global warming, should I do it like this?

Probably, because everyone nowadays is (oficially) concerened about global warming so this would be a great (official) reason to study them. good luck!
