All birds came from reptiles which came from fish which do lay eggs.
In Egipt it is taught that all life came from a primordal egg. This is symbolic of course.

They both came out of that primordial Soup at about the same time,just after the bolt of lightning hit it and Life Began. Though you COULD make the case that a chicken is simply a more evolved form of the egg. But that would suggest a human embreyo is an embreyonic human,which would militate against dehumanizing it. Gosh,it's so hard to ponder imponderables!
