From a Christian standpoint, it will depend from soldier to soldier. If the soldier has been saved, then he will not go to Hell. It does not matter who he did or did not shoot. It doesn not matter where he was when he was killed. All that matters is if his name has been written in the Lamb's Book of Life. That is the record of all those who have been saved. If he has been saved, all his sins have been forgiven.

No, the soldiers will not go to hell for one exceedingly good reason: hell does not exist. Nor does heaven. The soldiers exist; you and I exist, but no heaven, no hell, no Santa Claus, no Tooth Fairy, no Easter Bunny, no gods.
