One of my friends sends at least two forwards a day on topics ranging from jokes to powerpoint presentations....

PS: This is like my first serious question ever (for a friend), so pony up! :-)

Tell him to send the emails with attachments, jokes, etc. to other address you don't use much.

It worked for me.

Obviously the whole moderation system is in need of a re-work or overhaul on the Yahoo! Answers/Yahoo Platform. As far as moderation, some categories deserve more attention than others, due to either volume, controversial subject matters, or history of frequent abuse or abusers. Strange, because it seems the moderation in Yahoo! Groups works fine. Multiple accounts are a difficult thing because one can always claim the other account as a spouse, relative or friend when really it isn't. Given the technology of a multi-billion company it is amazing these type questions even have to be asked, surely it's not brain surgery for technology giants to figure out themselves. :-)

I also have a few close people who send me nothing but forwarded messages (my grandmother and mother-in-law are among them), and it bugs me almost as much as bona fide spam mail. As I see it, you've got two options.

1. Just delete them without making a big deal out of it (this is what I usually do, as it allows you to ignore the irritating message without hurting anyones feelings).

2. Reply to one of the forwards with a message along the lines of "I enjoy hearing from you, but I feel that forwarded messages like this one are really impersonal"... then go on to write a REAL email about something important in your life, or how you'd like to get together with her in person soon.

Good luck!

Just tell your friend that you are trying to cut down on the amount of emails in your inbox and that though you appreciate the fact that they thought you might like the forwards, you would appreciate it even more if they didn't send you those emails and wrote you personally when they had something to say.
I think that if you let your friend know that you appreciate the thought but that it really isn't your thing..they will understand. Just be honest. =)

Another thing you could do is set up a rule in your email program to automactically delete those forwards. Microsoft Outlook does this really well and you can make it occur just on the forwarded emails. This way you can delete, and not even see her forwards, without having to confront her on the issue...

Just delete them. Is it really so bad to get 2-3 emails a day from someone?

You mean you don't want to know you're going to die if you don't follow that chair? I don't blame you. Tell her straight out. Say look, Sally, I adore you, and you're wonderful, but stop sending me chain mail!! I hate it... I would rather hear what you have to say whether it be by phone or email. I love your personality, not finding out what will happen if I don't send this chain mail.

I suggest you just delete them. Telling them would definitely hurt them.
For those who like sending forwards to their friends........stop doing it.

Gently tell them that you are getting BLITZED by people sending you extranious emails- & to please take you off their automatic forwarding address book for awhile (odds are- you aren't the only one they're doing this too!). If THIS doesn't work- then block their email address.
